If it*s true that you and your 9-year old so have done this game, then it is fantastic.
Not too bad so far, only thing to improve would be lowering the sound in the 2nd level and adding more "variety" to the game. Anyways, good job! ;)

*** Version 1.1. Based on comments, I've made a few changes;
- You can now control the character with the arrows keys.
- I've tweaked the sounds in the second room so that it's less aggressive.
- You can now pick-up hearts with the boomerang, Zelda style.

Another game done by my son and I. This time, we did it during a 24 hours game jam. I'm really proud of him. Not every 9 years old would've been able to do it.
The controls are WASD to Move and Left Click to Shoot.
This is a simple Arcade / High Score game.
In the first room, you need to protect the ruby while making point. In the second room, you have to get it back from the king.

I agree with you on lowering the volume and adding more variety.

its good but i would prefer to use the arrow keys and space as well as the wasd keys just for comfort

Adding "Spacebar" to shoot! Why not. The game can easily have both that and the mouse without any conflit.
Also, I few modification / fix I need to do;
- Display the current best score.
- Progressively maker the robber part harder.
- Fix the sounds in the second part.
