In the second official animation in the Unsolicitau series of short short stories to make you chuckle the life of a simple Kardashian fan is thrown into turmoil when tragedy strikes...

The basic structure for a story is here, with the joke and punchline. However, some kind of build up and reversal of expectation needs to be more clear. For example, what if there's a few interesting shots of him looking like he's warming up to the advert and feeling remorse, only for him to go back to his old habits and scream for his mother?
For it to feel like a story, all it needs is some kind of change or reversal to what happens in the second "act". Otherwise, all the elements here- the static camera shots, the neon lighting, the two dimensional backgrounds- actually work pretty well. It's just the execution that needs work. And I know this because I suck at it, too. Keep going, man- the imagery is really strong here.

Unsolicitau responds:

Yeah I did a version that is basically what you are describing but found that this was funnier and the difference was pretty negligable. I know exactly what you mean though. Thanks for the input! I'm already busy working on new stuff I like to keep moving forward this was just a small idea tbh! A bit of a warm up!

Unsolicitau responds:

Thanks! It is Beck. It's called "Elevator Music" from "The Information".

It might've been funny if this wasn't a joke that had been made so many other times that it lost its comedic effect years ago. Find new material or remain a forgettable animator.

Unsolicitau responds:

That's fair but I'm still just warming up with learning animate and I'm trying to stay consistent with releasing content. This took about two days for me to put together between my actual job and working on other animations. Trust me I have a lot of other material. A lot. I just need to find the time to get it out there! Stay tuned!

Kinda funny. Loved the part where he moved his fingers like the remote was still in his hands after he couldn't reach the remote. That opening intro is kind of annoying with the bombardment of sounds though.

Unsolicitau responds:

Thanks! I think the opening intro is kind of supposed to be a little annoying I guess. I'm planning on switching up the audio each time a bit. I'm still finding a style I suppose. I think of this as kind of my humble beginnings. Thanks for the feedback!

Aah, the wonders of social support; decay of cable television; and obesity rolled into one.

Unsolicitau responds:

Yes! Exactly! I guess it's kind of a multi-faceted social allegory about the modern day struggles of the unrepresented, faceless (mother) lower class forced to serve the gluttonous upper class (son). It's also a retelling of Oedipus. Freud would say the remote is the phallus and the thoroughly farted on chair the throne of the king. I mean all that stuff is in there. Thanks for the feedback lol glad you liked it!
