Later than I hoped, but here it goes! My entry for the Newgrounds Sound Jam!

A curious traveler wanders into ancient ruins in search of a misterious relic...

This short was made based on the restriction of only using the sounds from a provided set of 30, and at least 20.

It was a pretty experimental theme and a pretty though one to develop; Looking for a way to make the most out of the sounds, I just began creating characters to 'match' a few sounds and then find a reason for them to spawn.

At the end, animating these different creatures was also part of the challenge, and what took me the most time through the process.

BUT enough of that, hope you enjoy this with your brain and your molecules.

I ended up using 27 sounds of the pack; I was originally hoping to use all 30 sounds for maximum weirdness, but I ran out of time before doing the 'bonus' scene which had the last ones...OH WELL.

I really love the missiles part
congratulations, really fun!

So freaken' cool! x')

Very cute! At first i thought it was a bit messy but then realized that's kind of part of the charm.

excellent work, love your style and humor. really creative.
I will mirror the previous reviewers sentiments and say it probably wouldn't hurt to saturate the characters a lil bit to separate them from the backgrounds

Butzbo responds:

Wow thanks a lot MC!
And that's a pretty good point; I think I slowly began to get used to more 'pastel' colors, but now that it's being mentioned, and considering the functional purpose, I'll keep it in mind for future works :)

I actually like the style of drawing used here but the colours are too pastel like for me. the characters and the rockets i really liked too.

Butzbo responds:

That's a good point, I've been lately experimenting a bit more with color palletes in general, trying to find a good balance between saturation of colors; This time I went a bit more to the pastel extreme, but I hope to keep playing with different approaches. Thanks for watching! :)
