"Well, time to restart the day"
For those of you who havent played before, this is from Stardew Valley, a self proclaimed "open ended Country Life RPG" that plays much like animal Crossing, except better.
Making progress on the animation front, im super pleased with how this turned out, the main things (other than the animation in general) i wish i could have done better on would probably be the sound and voice acting. Im not much of one haha
~originally made for R/StardewValley
"Well, time to restart the day"
Well let's begin with a good start : I liked it, and it's far from a given :) and there a few notably good points
So from your "comments" and from the fact that it's your second animation on Newgrounds, I guess you must be relatively new to animation, and I feel like there is some potential :) !
Of course there is still some work to be done even on that point, but it was pretty nice and agreeable to watch even with the flaws in it
The choice of the "subject" of the animation is also pretty good, because it will talk to nearly every player of stardew valley, but also a few from other games (animal crossing, rune factory frontier, harvest moon, etc...)
Ok so onto the more negative points :
Even though the subject was well chosen, I dont think it was well developped... You did say it was for the R/StardewValley, but if you post it on Newgrounds, you should aim to do an animation that even Newgrounders that dont know Stardew Valley could appreciate... Of course you cannot do that perfectly when you're doing an animation about a certain subject or game, but I feel like you could have added an explanation (for example, had you made your character say "Abigail's birthday" or "my rendez vous with Abigail" or anything, even those who did not know at all about the games would have understood and appreciated more...)
It may feel like I'm nitpicking, but I really think it's an easy detail to miss, but also an easy detail to fix in the future, and that could improve just a bit the quality of your animations for little to no effort
Also as you know, the sound is really bad... You may think it harsh of me to mention it like that, I guess you just dont have the best microphone or smthg, but I still feel like it really impacted negatively the animation as a whole...
The background music was not of that bad of a quality, even the voice acting was not that bad (god you can really hear worse out there, it was quite good really when you compare it to others)... But the QUALITY of the sound of the voice acting was a real problem
Besides those points, I feel like if you keep working on it, you might just become real good at animation :) keep up the good work
Thank you, this is really helpful! And yeah i agree the sound quality is bad, i might just go out and pick up a good quality microphone. And the context is probably a good idea to add, if i get the time i might redo the audio at a later date but i appreciate your feedback
You said it well yourself, "Making progress on the animation front, I'm super pleased with how this turned out, the main things (other than the animation in general) i wish i could have done better on would probably be the sound and voice acting. I'm not much of one haha."
I do agree, and it was an enjoyable flash that did come out well. Nice work!
It was funny. The animation was so bad its good although you could improve the voice acting
Thanks for the reply, however, when you say its bad, what do you mean? Less tweens more drawing? or blandness? I can see it too, but ive been looking at this thing so long im not even sure what to change anymore
