Loved it - really awesome visuals done with really subtle touches, and with really original design!-
Real horror's all about not showing too much & leaving enough unknown to the imagination, and you managed this really perfectly! For anyone who knows Lovecraft's work, you ended it in just the right place.
It's a short tale obviously, but I wish more horror games were done with this much skill!
Good grief this was a good, well deserved climax. It's questionable whether the old man could really wield cutlasses so deftly and drag three bodies to the beach without a trace. There is suggestion of magic or darkness which only makes it all the more droll. Good job.
This was really good, lots of nice Lovecraft references, a strong sense of forboding and suspense. I don't think it's news to you that it leaves the player clamoring for more. So rather than just complaining that it's too short, I'd like to offer a positive suggestion. I think that there is a lot of room for an expanded version of the game in which we follow each of the three characters to their inevitable demise. So after Ricci and Silva leave Czanek, the game could follow them. You solve a few puzzles to get inside, then they split up, one going downstairs to search for the treasure, the other going up to go detain the old man. Then the game would follow the guy searching the basement, solving some puzzles, and then just as you're about to find the treasure, you hear a scream, and the game cuts back to where they split up and this time you follow the other guy. This would be even more suspenseful because with each puzzle you solve or door you unlock, you already know this guy's about to die, but you don't know when or how. Then once that character is dispatched, the game comes back to the guy in the basement, after the first scream, and you play out his futile attempts to escape the house (and fail). And then we come back to Czanek, and make his death a little more interesting, giving the player a chance to do a few things before dying rather than just sitting there (or, maybe make it possible for the player to figure something out and escape, only to head back to the bar, thinking that being among people would provide protection, only to find out just how much the people of Kingsport stick together...)
So many possibilities, I really hope you let the success of this game inspire you to even greater things. Thanks for making it.
Wish it was a little longer but it was fun to play for sure.
Very good adaptation, and I love the art, but I feel like this would have been just as good as an ordinary, non-interactive short movie. The game aspect comes across as somewhat out of place, especially given how short the game is.
