Dot & Square is spot on to be listed under the "Skill - Avoid" genre. If you like puzzles, and if you're able to multi-task fairly well then this is your game!

Now it has a story, but I'm not going to get into that. Instead, I'm going to talk about the gameplay. The object is to reunite Circle and Square to the transparent counter-parts in the level. There are many inconveniences in your way such as spike traps, saw blades, and even lasers. You must take control of both character and maneuver around to reach the destination. When you complete a level, you will then be ranked out of 5 stars depending how fast it took you. Aside from the first few levels, difficulty will pick up quickly. Repeat: it won't cater to you. An average player is going to rage while playing this game. However, we only have ourselves to blame, as the game, controls, and physics are executed so smoothly. The game has a death count, which you can check from the main menu. This gives players a reason to come back and play. With a local friend, you could do a competition to see whose more coordinated, or tackle the game together with each person controlling one character. The amount of flexibility here is astonishing.
Later on in the game, you'll have to move boxes to block lasers and position on switches to open doors. One thing that caught me off-guard is that you can move boxers diagonally by first moving into them in a straight direction, and then changing your course to move in the diagonal patten you want it to go. This is very important for when you play the late levels when you suddenly have to get a box past a laser! I am able to say that all levels can be completed with a full 5 stars.

Now for the things that are not so great about this game: I personally found the character design to be somewhat lazy, and the story to be completely unnecessary. I mean Square!? Circle!? Come on! You don't think people have done this already? When a developer don't have an artist or lack the artistic ability, they take the easy way out, because shapes tool hardly take any time at all to draw when compared to creating an organic character. And the ending, my god the ending... way too laid back after going through what was basically a death trap.
Another complaint I have is the music. The game does have multiple tracks installed, but most of them sound the same. After the 5th level I just got sick of it all-together and muted it. By level 11, you start listening to a techno beat unfit for a concentration game like this. Those were just my issues, however people may not find this to be as much of a burden.

Dot & Square sweeped me off my feet. It was an awesome experience, I had fun with it. The final verdict for this gem is an 8 out of 10 - easily one of the best puzzle-skill games to come to newgrounds! It's difficult, but shoot over the line of being ridiculous. if you are a gamer then feel free to give it a shot!
