I really love this game.
It's awesome and challenging. ( Level 10 almost made me give up. )
I also like the music.
Keep up the good work.
First of all, I like the concept. I think this is creative, fresh, and well-programmed. The animations are smooth, the controls work well, what few colors appear are nice. The music was obnoxious, and it doesn't fit the game, in my opinion, but giving us the ability to turn it off reflects well on you. Some of the little obstacles and puzzles were really neat.
The problem, for me, is that the maze turns toooooooooooooooooo slooooooooowwwwwwwwwwly. For the first five levels, I kept wishing for a button that would allow us speed up the rotation. Once I hit level 7, things started getting difficult, and that by itself is good. But repeated failures started to hurt, not because I was failing, but because having to restart meant having to sit through the level over and over. In other games in which the levels are difficult and call for repeated replays, at the very least you're actually playing the level. In Caze, you're just kind of sitting through the level over and over, quite possibly to fail it another time.
In fact, that's my biggest gripe. I put over an hour into the game, and most of that time was just sitting here waiting... waiting.... waiting... MOVE... waiting... waiting... At times, I fiddled the rotation back and forth just to keep myself involved. This stings even harder at higher levels, when you wait specifically for the maze to turn... turn... for the blocks slide into the right place... ease you way through the level and then AAAAGGGHHH! HIT THE EDGE OF THE LAST GAP, EVEN THOUGH I'M CERTAIN I MISSED IT! Back to waiting... waiting... watching the minutes tick by... It wasn't even the mental part of the game that was tough. I could figure out exactly where I had to go and which way to turn the maze at what point... although, it was easy to get mixed up by the rotation and hit the wrong button, but I imagine that was part of your evil plan.
This is a rage game for me. After failing level 8 for the millionth time, I wanted to smash my screen. But it's a rage game for the wrong reasons. It's not the challenge of the confusing rotation and the tight gaps that made upset me... it was the tedium mixed in with the challenge. I had to stop at after level 8 because I couldn't take it anymore. Below, you state that later difficulties speed up the maze, and I suspect those might actually be easier. I may never get to see them.
I hate that this review sounds so negative, and don't want you to be hurt by it, but I had a pretty aggravating experience. I really LIKE your concept and how well you coded the game. Like some of the reviews below say, it is addictive and it should be a lot of fun. I just feel like something went wrong in the execution. The game handles well, but it's a chore to play, and in the end I felt like I had wasted a lot of time sitting there doing nothing while I waited for the game.
What if holding Space Bar sped the maze up, while letting go returned it to its original speed?
I have added a feature to make the game speed up while the user holds down the space bar.
Thanks for the great feedback :) Will try think of some more ways to help decrease the time needed to update as I can see the annoyance of the waiting time on the normal difficulty.
fun and difficult it was very addictive
Slow and boring..................... I give up
According to your medals you have not passed the first level on the easiest difficulty, please give the game more of a chance to increase in difficulty on the later levels or the higher difficulty's.
Thanks for playing any ways :)
