My biggest recommendation would be to use less blur effect around the beam itself, and I would give the explosions more frames of animation.
On a more positive note, I really like the frame rate the project is rendered at.

I am a huge fan of the series It would have been even more awesome if you could added in what it was hitting and let us see the impact otherwise i could imagine that the enemy fleet stop attacking because they were laughing how pitiful the gun was.
