Singsong dialogue in sync with the monotonous drone. Spectacular. The decay of wisdom, the decay of age. This reminds me of a famous saying I'm going to butcher: "If you know something, teach it."
Is this a social comment about how most of us only know one, true thing?
The poisoned clouds soon will be brown, later grey. Fantastic animation, Ida.
Hahaha thank you so much. I think I'm too scared of the fact that the world will go mad someday. I'm glad you enjoy this. Thanks FourCigarettes. Cheers.
First thought was the teacher was thrown into jail because it was deemed racist to say clouds are white. I thought it'd be a politically controversial short that way, with one of the many problems in society now being how the word racism is turned against people, keeping people silent rather than potentially saying something wrong, ice cream brands that have 'white' or 'black' in their name making headlines because of their use of color that may be interpreted another way. Which is completely ridiculous.
Looks like I misinterpreted this short though, the aspect of pollution seems like a much better one, and watching it again it feels clear. Though, I do wonder a bit about that transition after the lesson where his eyes are whirling, wondering what's really going on there, if he's senile or crazy, if it was intentional or not. Style of the animation's somewhat creepy, but very effectual, sound effects and voicing all add to the mood. And that final 'clouds are brown, old man...', it's an open question as to where we're really headed. Nice work.
No, I never thought about racism while writing the story. And yes, it actually is about the pollution. The teacher seems like hmm, he can't accept the fact that clouds are turning brown. He still believes what he saw while he was young. Clouds were white. Then he tries to tell his student about this - long lost - fact. Yes, he becomes crazy because of this.
Actually the story is all about my fear. Thank goodness clouds are still white today, and I hope they will always be.
Thank you so much for your feedback. I'm really glad. Really appreciate it. Cheers.
I have to admit, in the beginning i did not like it... but the lead up to the ending and the ending itself completely made up for it. The art style reminds me a lot of "Salad Fingers" and it is certainly, down-right creepy, which i enjoy. Things like this, i feel, may not get as much appreciation as i think it deserves. The thing i find so great about the ending is that, this character had taught his students that clouds are white and the sky is blue... he was sentenced to jail for 5 years for teaching an "irrelevant" subject- yet it is very relevant, the clouds (I'm guessing about 5 years later) are now brown and the sky is a bit too. You could say this is related to pollution, a predicted up-coming war in the story, or maybe this man has psychological issues and perspectives that have altered this beyond what it really is. Anyways, it's creepy, interesting, the animation may not be the best but it sure is weird and has a sickening (in a good way) sort of affect. I really hope to see something like this again and i very much encourage you to keep doing what you do.
Hi, Velnhart. Thank you so much for the long review. Most people don't understand, but you do and honestly I'm very happy. Thank you so much for your critics, support, and appreciation. I'll keep trying to improve things. May I keep you in my pocket? Thank you. So much. Long live, Sir.
quite confusing, but i guess that's what it's primarily intended for. I don't like the art style so much, and as far as the animation is concerned it could be more fluent and have more angles and better FX (the clouds for example). But I like the creepy and confusing atmosphere and the fact that voices, music and animation are all done by you. Keep up the good work
Basically 3.5 stars from me, + 0.5 for the length.
Thank you so much for your feedback. I really appreciate it and I'm glad you can enjoy this. I'll keep trying to improve my stuff. Thanks.
Stay in school.
I will, I will.
