Version: A 0.02 (old version)

Legends of Pixelia is an action role-playing game that combines retro pixelart with modern gameplay mechanics. Tired of left-clicking through hordes of brainless one-hit-KO enemies? Random dungeons, precise controls via gamepad (or keyboard) and a strong fighting game AI provide challenging encounters. Be prepared!

Legends of Pixelia is still in development. This version shows the Knight hero class and the first two dungeons.

The newer versions can't be played in the Web Player. Check out the downloads section on IndieDB:

For a game that's not even close to finished, this is incredibly fun!

A bit boring honestly and truly... And I dunno if we can repeat stuff or not.

SimaGames responds:

Legends of Pixelia might not be a game for everyone, thanks for your honesty. I'm not sure, what you were trying to say with "I dunno if we can repeat stuff or not".

Enjoying the retro graphics! And the fact that it's not entirely retro, that light emits a glow, the center of a room's brighter than the corners, etc, atmosphere builds up nicely. Also really catchy music. For the screen where you type in a name, it'd have been nice if you could type regularly, or click, rather than use those traditional and somewhat limited retro controls for everything, improvements where they're possible without necessarily removing the retro alternative if you'd rather use that. Overall, great game!

The problem with the basic pixelart - hard to see your moves. The controls are too confusing, and the goal of the game is still a basic dungeon crawl. What makes this different?

SimaGames responds:

The main difference is the very high player skill cap. You can do long combos by juggling your enemies into the air multiple times. To do that, you need to learn positioning and perfect timing for your skills and attacks.

TL;DR: The combat system is more like in a beat 'em up, instead of brainless left-clicking as we see it in lots of other dungeon crawlers.

I like the game but can you make the dungeon a little bit big.

SimaGames responds:

The later dungeons will have bigger maps. This demo features 6 floors total, floor 1 and 2 are small to give new players a chance to get into the game.
