Your father has been murdered! Can you defeat the nine swordsman standing between you and revenge?

En Garde is a 2D fighting game. Combat ends after just one strike, following in the vein of games like Bushido Blade.

This is the first game I've ever made. Thanks for playing!

This game is one of the best games ive seen on this site, the gameplay in the final battles is fast and intense, and is still a nice quick swordfighting game throughout the fights. The music for most of the battles is a bit repetetive, but the final battle music was superb, and greatly fits the mood and honestly, is perfect. Overall, great game.

I love the way you can wiggle your sword by tapping z repeatedly and if you hold z and tap down the enemy cant get near you and the just stand there lol.

When trying the VS mode, I get a 'there is no BitmapData asset' error message after selecting characters, maybe related to a specific character? Would be good if that were fixed! Overall this seems like a very well thought-out game though, the interface is intuitive and easy to navigate, you can skip cutscenes, easily flick past dialog, etc, it makes it easy to replay. The graphics are simple yet sleek, the music catchy chiptune, and the idea unique. It's an impressively wholesome first game! Nice work.

Thanks for the feedback! I fixed that error, just mislabeled an asset path that managed to slip through the cracks.
