This is a little minecraft-y block building game thing I put together in a few days. It's nothing super creative but I think it came out kind of neat.

If you have any suggestions/ideas for updates, it'd be really cool if you left them in a review/pm.

How to play;
-Click anywhere to place a block
-Pickaxe icon : remove blocks
-Upload icon : click to share your world online
-X icon : quit to the main menu
-Volume icon : toggle mute
-Square icon : change background
-The two squares thing : toggle darkness/normal

-Online sharing through newgrounds save data api
-A bunch of blocks + alternative versions ( ie. layered)
-3 NG medals

Thanks for playing!

Just thinking I haven't made a shared creation in a while... not bad - but the canvas is a bit small for a non-interactive scene.

A bit silly that only the first two sets of tiles are unique - the remaining palettes are combinations of the previous tiles. May I suggest you have two palettes: mid-ground items (for blocks), and foreground items (for items like the ladder or torch that can logically appear on any block)? Pickaxe just deletes both mid- and fore-ground.

If you were feeling ambitious you could also add an overlay layer (like fore-fore-ground) for fog, flame, smoke/steam, type effects.

I did like the darkness/normal toggle.

Needs right-angled blocks (left and right handed, & upper and lower: so a set of four) like tile 52 and 53, but solid in either the upper or lower half. If you only did the lower half, this would let you do roofs, and slides, and all sorts of stuff. Upper half would be necessary to allow consistency.

Definitely needs more backgrounds: really there is only one background that you colour-shift. Why not have clear sky / windy day / sandstorm / snowstorm / rain / rainstorm / hail / lighting / night sky / sun on horizon / moon on horizon?!?

Did I enjoy it? Well yes, it satisfied my momentary urge to create something... but I don't think I'll do more than one - just no real depth to this scene creator.

imagine Minecraft.
now, dumb it down to its most basic elements, remove the Z axis and anything that resembles physics.
what's left is this game, which is basically a pixel art program with potential, potential that is squandered with low res versions of Minecraft blocks. seriously, it'd be cool if you made it a little bigger and removed the Minecraft theme; then, what you'd have is a decent and easily accessible pixel art creator. seriously consider removing the copied themes and making your own, or at least doing something like The Sandbox.

nice game

The game lets you build in a small world. It has allot of blocks to choose from to build anything you want. The music is really loud but is quite good IMO. The community is really sh*t with people building giant penises and random houses, but a good world every now and then.

It's not a bad game, but don't get your hopes too high.

Its strange and very limited, and its hard to discern what anything is. But I like it and all of your submissions so I made a map and voted! Thanks 08Jackt!
