This is my first game, and it's crap. I wish I could say it was entirely intentional, and just some joke, but it's not. It was supposed to look like an Atari game, so I wouldn't have to do any sort of texture. I was trying to create a game before I even learned how to use the engine. Just in my second game, you can see a significant improvement, and that one was started shortly before this one was released, and I didn't really change anything as development went on. Just made new levels. Even now, I've significantly improved. My characters are actually characters, every game has music, they all play much better, and they're all still in development. I say, skip this one, for your own sanity. That being said, it stays up for now.

The game has potential (like trig functions do ;)), though the fact that the difficulty curve is plain horrible, an incredible amount of players would be quick to stop playing this sort of game. An example of a hard game with a great difficulty curve would be Super Meat Boy. I found the inertia when starting to move realy hard to get used to

Also as somebody already mentioned, the graphics are painful to look at - the strongly colored objects rapidly moving across a black background. The color isn't exactly the problem, its the velocity as the eye struggles to follow.

Perhaps a more interesting direction a game like this could take is basing level design on the paths a player could safely traverse judging by the patterns of the moving objects - as levels progress, so does the path complexity increase and greater spatial planning skills are required.

CSGames97 responds:

The name comes from the pattern of movement the obstacles follow, on a sine wave. :)

As for the suggestion, that was sort of the original idea. I admit, I had a little bit of a difficult time keeping myself on track with the original plan. Also, I saved one of the best mechanics for the end. Probably should have put that in earlier on. I guess it's too late now. I suppose I can update the game to make some small things better, but to pull this off I'd need to basically start over, which I don't have time for. I have other projects I'm working on. I learned lots of stuff from making this game, but I need to keep moving forward, try to make better games in the future. I may be updating this game, at some point, but as far as the level design is concerned, I'm done. It's a shame, but I want to keep going on. I have lots of stuff waiting ahead!

The game is alright, I suppose. The graphics are a little bit hard on the eyes, black background and all. The game is a little bit difficult though, I mean I guess someone who was alot better at me at games like this would probably get alot more out of it, but I'm not that great at it. Maybe it'd be a little bit easier to play if the red rectangles were a little bit more spaced?

CSGames97 responds:

Rest assured, the intent was for it to be difficult. I tested every level myself, making sure they could physically be passed.

Neat concept. Simple Mechanics, difficult to master. Personally I did not find it that fun, but we all have our own tastes. My only suggestion, would be to add something to tell you the controls. Minor nitpick, but I hate fumbling between AWSD, the arrow keys, and my mouse to figure out what controls it.

Overall, not too shabby for your first game.

CSGames97 responds:

Thanks, man! In regards to the controls, I was intending for the player to figure them out on their own. I always hate it when games bombard me with tutorials for things that are just common sense. If it were a more complex game, sure, but this game is pretty basic, and I felt it wasn't needed. I may add one in the future, since people seem to want it.

It was average. It had no music of any sort and the game became bland fairly quick. Some suggestions: maybe try adding a level counter? Or maybe a death counter? Maybe both? Add music?

CSGames97 responds:

I will take that into consideration! Thanks for your input! :)
