Here is its eulogy, a collection of the kind words written about it while still among the living. They shall live on forever in its place.

Take control of Max on his quest for revenge against a legion of space pirates. Overcome the odds and save your family.

-3 levels, plus a boss battle.
-Old school vertical shooting at its best.
-Medals to unlock.
-A 100% guitar soundtrack.

I have been working on this game in my spare time for quite a while. While I am not a programmer or an artist by any means, I still felt like trying to make a short game as a hobby. This game was a huge learning experience for me. While I originally just planned on sharing it with my friends, I decided to put it up here on Newgrounds so some of you could (hopefully) enjoy it as well.

Some Tips:
*Destroy enemies as fast as you can. They will stick around and overwhelm you if you leave them alone for too long.
*Your laser has a noticeable rate of fire-exercise good aiming.
*Watch out for the destroyers-they may be big and slow, but they take a good deal of punishment and their firing pattern is random.
*Is the game too easy? Try to earn all of the medals.

Reviews

With the arena guitar solo soundtrack, the arcade style action, the 8-bit graphics, the Star Wars joke, and the overall rock n' roll feel of the narration, this game took me way back to the '80's.

The challenge is good, but the action is a little slow for me. The game seems to drag to the point where I don't even want to redo level 1 once I fail. But I think I[ll stick at it. The controls are tight, the concept is strong, and I can already tell that there are some unique enemies in the game.

The story is fun, but I suggest adding a button to skip quickly over dialogue beyond the feature that lets you skip completely. I still want to read it, but I don't want to wait for it the advance on its own.

All of your criticisms are valid. When I was making the game, I wanted to do something a little different, so I slowed down the action to give the game a more strategic approach. It seemed like an interesting idea, but I knew everyone wouldn't be a fan of it (I even considered changing the pace towards the end). If I were to make another game of this type, i would probably do one with faster action.

As for the text skipping, that's a great point that I would have liked to implement, but my lack of technical knowledge prevented it from happening. Since this is the first game I have ever made, there are some definite rough patches. Once again, if I were to make another game, I would try to implement that feature.

Thanks for the review.

People would have poured quarters into this at the arcade. Good Work.

<deleted> responds:

Thanks, but hopefully they wouldn't have poured TOO MANY quarters into this. One of my biggest worries is that I made the game too easy. But when I take a look at who has earned the medals, I think that I may have actually made it too hard. Live and learn.

The idea of a guitar soundtrack is very creative. The graphics are so far above most of the content here. Best of all the gameplay is great. I would pay for this game

<deleted> responds:

Thanks. Honestly, though, I am surprised you mention the graphics as a high point, because I am definitely not artistic whatsoever. In fact, out of all the areas of the game, I consider the graphics to be the weakest link.

Glad you enjoyed it.
