I originally developed this as a Megaman clone to test the Flixel game engine, but I didn't want it to be that easy to kill the enemies with so I made that charging feature. But after finishing the entire game mechanics, it no longer seemed attractive enough for me to want to play.

And I also used black and white because I didn't want to be that detailed with my animation. Since it takes about 3 or 4 hours for me to pump out a single animation anyway. And with all those limitations in mind, I simply went with the human psychology theme cause it fits and I'm very into the whole messing with the minds kind of shtick.

A few people have told me this was a little dark. This was because I was developing this while fresh out of college and it wasn't easy to find a job. A lot of thoughts and doubts had crossed my mind.

I did intend to put more puzzles into this game, but I had already put a lot of time into this and I didn't want to be one of those people that never complete a project.

But nevertheless, I hope you guys enjoy it!

A different kind of platformer and really like the black and white theme but still can be challenging

~X~

i'm unable to beat that first boss because even if 90% of my shots hit him i run out of ammo before i kill him

i like the visual aesthetic, but i don't think the music fits

Even though I died about a hundred times. I completely loved this game. The music is perfect for the atmosphere and mood of the game and I loved the story. I really wanted to save him, to try my hardest to find him and get more and more anxious whenever I read the messages one by one to see his condition worsen. I felt helpless.
Anyway, thank you for making this amazing game! I hope to come back and see a wave of popularity hit it!

A pretty innovative platformer this was! The motions are slick, controls easy, the levels like a combination of puzzle and exploration, with so much detail in all the little speech bubbles and notes lying around. The fact that there's a story in the background, all the time, is a driving force in moving forwar too. Even in just the first level there's a large selection of different types of foes, and they keep amounting. Haven't played it through, but so far it's great! Nice work.

It's good, but it's unfinished. There's only two levels available and I've beaten them both. I can definitely see this as a Megaman game, especially with the first boss fight. The number of different enemies you included is great (a lot of game makers just include one or two sometimes so it gets old quick). I guess my complaints lie with the battle system in that you have almost no time to react to enemy attacks and enemies literally come out of no where. There would be nothing wrong with this if falling off the edge didn't mean immediate death (they knock you around like a pinball). There should probably be a longer recovery period after being damaged.

Still, I like the dark storyline and how you approached it (especially with the thought bubbles from the enemies, which made me question if the enemies were thinking these or if they were the character's thoughts or the person you were trying to save. Were these creatures fragments of him?)

I look forward to your next game. Good luck!

DontComplain responds:

Eh!?! I must have not unlocked it (while I had finished debugging) cause it was suppose to have all 5 levels. I'll definitely upload an unlocked version tonight.

The boss fights has always been a non-stop tweaking projecting for me. As some will say it is too easy to kill and others will say it is too hard. I'll play around with it some more. (This often occurs with the first boss cause I wanted him to teleport around. So I'll modify his teleporting ability).

This is more of a story-line driven plot but I do intend to add more puzzles to this and more unique attributes to the existing enemies. I just didn't want to get stuck on this (5 month) project and only get a 2 star rating for all the effort.
