Author Comments

Hello Newgrounds, I am uploading version 2 of the game 'Blitzkrieg - Multiplayer War'.

‘Blitzkrieg – Multiplayer War’ is a turn based, multiplayer, simulation-strategy game. Draw the destination lines for your army to maintain and click ready to let the move take place.

This version includes a large number of updates including more maps, a tutorial, a multiplayer lobby, bug fixes, improvements to gameplay and lots of other stuff.

My previous upload will also execute the new version of this game (version 2). This is because the game client downloads the most recent version of the game every time it is loaded.

Instructions
--------------

Watch the tutorial for visual help on how to play.

-----------------
Game Objectives
-----------------

Blitzkrieg Multiplayer War is a turn-based game

Your objective is to take all cities (C) with your army.

You draw your BATTLE LINE with the pencil tool.

Press Ready (>) and your entire army will move to your BATTLE LINE.

--------------
Strategy
--------------

Important - keep your line connected to your cities (C). The more cities the better up to 4.

Your BATTLE LINE must be connected to your cities for your armies to have any effect.

Tiny black dots indicate your army is connected to your cities and is effective.

You also need to own resources (R)

--------------
Tools
--------------

Pencil: Draws your battle destination line

Eraser: Erases parts of your line.

Clear(X): clears all your lines.

Ready (>): Starts your army moving (red line = controls locked).

--------------
Advice
--------------

Cut off your enemy's armies from their cities to make them ineffective.

Ensure your line is not too long and your army too thin - watch the destination gap size.

interesting game!

How do I register for multiplayer? When I attempt to do this, I get a screen saying "Registering..." for an infinite amount of time.

Graphics: .5/1 Easy to understand and functional, but very simple.

Audio: .5/1 Decent ambient sound effects that change in intensity and volume during combat but no music to speak of.

Gameplay 2/2 Fun, simple to understand and play while still allowing for a lot of creativity in how you deploy and supply your forces to out maneuver and over power your opponents. Seems pretty active on the multiplayer side but with a practice option just in case you can't, or don't want to play with other players.

System requirements and stability 1/1 The game runs great with no bugs and very little lag to speak of.

Personal notes:
It seems like a lot of players like to do this spider web thing with their supply lines which, while modular and keeps your army concentrated, tends to leave your resources a bit exposed. I recommend focusing your armies into concentrated perimeters around your land and trying to not get caught out in the center where you can get surrounded. Also, be aggressive about those resource points (R) on the map, they are arguably more important than your cities because they regenerate and grow your armies to large sizes, cities with strong supply lines are used for making sure your army fights well but resources make it exist in the first place and replenish lost forces which allows you to take more of the map.

Once I figured that out, I crushed multiple veteran players with very high ratings who were using spiderweb strategies to try and punch through. As long as I added a bit more reinforcements to my valuable points and had redundant supply lines that crisscrossed acting like a second barrier and keep my front line from being isolated by a large penetrating or flanking force, it didn't really matter if my gaps in the back started pushing 5.4-5.8 because the front line got ridiculously large very quickly and would envelope any armies that manged to punch through a little ways causing them to be fighting on three sides with their supply line in a dangerous position.

Also, once you have a strong defensive barrier set up, don't be afraid to take a turn or two to optimize your supply lines to use less troops. every little bit helps and a few optimizations can mean and extra bit of distance and strength for an attacking force which is almost always a close fight anyway.

TL;DR
Hog all the (R) points!
Make walls of troops!
Use redundant supply lines in areas close to the fighting!
Make your supply lines as short and efficient as possible!
BE AGGRESSIVE!

Also the obvious tips like cut enemy supply lines, surround before you destroy, attack enmass... ect, ect.

multiplayerwar responds:

Thanks for the review, I enjoyed reading this. It's great to see that you have developed an effective strategy for playing the game. Hopefully other players will benefit from this advice.

BE AGGRESSIVE! lol

the timer is way too short .

multiplayerwar responds:

I might increase the timer time, but it would slow the game down. Some players may find this frustrating. If you fail to input your moves in time, your 'battle line' is saved for the next turn so you can always click submit on the next cycle. If you practice more you should not find the timer so much of an issue.

Amazing game, i am glad you decided to continue making it and i am amazed at how much you improved it.

One thing i would like to see are HUGE maps and more players per map possibly up to 10?

Lastly i would like to see a postpone game button to wait for more players to join.

multiplayerwar responds:

Hi MAGNUM2016, it's good to see you playing again.

Huge maps would not be feasible in a Flash game since Flash Player is too slow to simulate the number of armies required at a reasonable frame-rate.

If I make more improvements to the game I might include a postpone game button.
