Reach The End

Author Comments

Reach The End is a rage inducing platformer made for the Low Resolution Jam. In this Jam, the game's resolution is restricted to 32 by 32 pixels.

It is advised to download the executable version for a better experience. The HTML5 Version is only available for ease of access.

The goal is simple. Reach the end in a little deaths as possible.

Controls:
Jump - Up arrow Key.
Left and Right - Left and right arrow key.
Place Checkpoint/Save - Space.
Restore Last Checkpoint - Shift.

Pros:
- Okay-ish graphics
Cons:
- You don't have to explain that you shouldn't touch red objects. It's obvious
- You do have to explain that you can place checkpoints (in the actual game).
- Input lag.
- This game is harder than IWBTG. This is not something you wanna go for in a webgame (I don't care if I'm supposed to download an executable).
- The leveldesign is boring.
Bugs:
- Set two checkpoints right above a red object and your game is broken.

Trying to gain up a difficulty by restricting player's sight so narrow is NOT a good way to make a platformer.

This ... game ... is ... so ... slow ... as ... molasses ... it's ... unplayable. Count to five each time you see three dots before reading the next word gives a good approximation of the gameplay experience.

Try not assuming everyone has beast godly computers next time. The resource consumption of this is inexcusable. You really need to work on better resource management.

Sorry such a low score but I'm even having trouble typing this out due to your game's resource consumption taxing my computer so much.

FattyJoeMan responds:

The HTML5 version is only there for ease of access. For a better experience use the windows executable version, as this runs much much faster.

Hard as balls my friend, hard as balls.

While the concept of zooming in on a pixel is neat and all, I feel the viewable area is too small, and could be bumped up without affecting the difficulty, and still meet the criteria of the challenge. Just make the viewport (or "stage") a little wider and taller. At least 4 - 6 times larger. Please do that.

Aside from those complaints, this game is pretty good!

FattyJoeMan responds:

The reason for the small stage is due to the ow Resolution Jam's main rule. The game must have a resolution of 32 by 32 pixels. This rules is the reason for such a small view area.
