I had trouble with that at first too, but then I figured out that you have to click and drag to aim and change the power level.
Overall a very addicting game (I played all the levels)!

This might have been a fun game if the aim worked at all. But since when I click with the arrow pointing all the way to the left or right and the ball drops straight down, I don't see much point in playing on.
