Ghostbusters - Bust In Peace

WARNING - This is not really a game! It's basically an INTERACTIVE ANIMATED COMIC. Every now and then you'll get to choose the next panel, making a decision that will slightly alter the evolving of the plot.
PREPARE FOR A LOT OF READING

------------

I've always been a great fan of the Ghostbusters franchise.
Maybe because both the movies and the animated series were such a big part of my childood that I still remeber them fondly.

I was also very excited at the idea of a thid movie coming up, and I literally jumped for joy when I found out that, since a few years ago, IDW has been publishing an ongoing comic book series about our most favourite men in grey (and a great one at that, written by Erik Burnham with pencils by Dan Schoening - I strongly suggest you to try it out, it's even on Comixology!).

... Then, as most of you might know, Harold Ramis, the actor impersonating Egon Spengler - and co-writer of the movies - passed away. May he rest in peace.

And that's when I decided to make this comic. The idea just popped to my mind and refused to go away.
You won't find much drama or angst in here, though: I want this to be a (modest) tribute to Ramis' talent for comedy.

It required some work - especially 'cause I had to custom edit most of the sprites I used, since I can't really draw - but here's the first chapter of three.

Hope you'll like it, the next one will be online in about two months!

Thank you for your time, please forgive my bragging and... enjoy.

P.S. In the canonical timeline, this story would be settled between the second movie and the most recent videogame.

Honestly, this has some Teltale vibes to it, I approve of it!

Even this one needs the skip button.
I like what you did overall with this series just needed 1 tweek for the first and 2nd to make them a little more replayable
Lucky I stated on the last one so the medals were easy to get on the first 2 so that saved a little time

Yeah! I got all golden medals at first playtrough!

Very good game:
- Great story, both entertaining and sensible.
- Witty dialogues.
- Good music and sound effects.
- Good pixel style graphics.
- Lot's of medals.
- Choices were very well made. The best options were not too obvious and in the same time not too hard to guess if you think and understand the situation well and have a general Ghostbuster knowledge.
- True to Ghostbuster's spirit.

Why my rating is not perfect:
- There is no skipping to choice points when replaying for alternate scenarios and medals like in the third installment of this game.
- I would like to see this on fullscreen and with an animated cursor instead of the default windows one. But these features are not included.

Really enjoyed this as a person who loved Ghost busters at childhood (and to some degree still do).

Muja responds:

Thank you for your detailed review!

love COMIC games and ones that you pick the part of the comic just wish this had lots of blood that my thing and all

Muja responds:

Thank you!
Ghostbusters do have a touch of horror, but they're mostly about comedy :)

Question: Does this game take place after the 2007 videogame for the ps3 and xbox360
Comment: this is one of the best games/virtual/digital comics i have ever played.

Muja responds:

This story is set *before* the videogame - which, like many other fans, I call "Ghostbusters 3" - and after Ghostbusters 2.

And thanks a lot for the comment, I did this just for fun, glad you enjoyed it :)

You can find the remaining episode 2 and 3 here on Newgrounds!

And if you like this digital comics format, moreover, I've made another original series, titled "Zombie Society". You can find it here on Newgrounds, and it's a complete three-parts story.

Thanks again!
