***wait for the credits to roll for an extra scene!***
This features QTE's (Quick Timer Events) taken directly from SHENMUE for the dreamcast.
Think of the animation as an interactive movie, not a game.

Ah.... So THAT was one of these childhood games I've been remembering this whole year

Serge showed us that you don't need complicated gameplay to have fun. This was one of the first titles I came across when discovering Newgrounds for myself as a kid. Playing this 20 years later and I can still feel the goosebumps on my arm when the credits roll. Serge, wherever you are, I hope you're doing well.

I absolutely love that I came across this game, if only for the fact that Quick Time Events were such a new game mechanic that it specifically sources Shenmue as a source. QTE's have been so overdone in the 21 years since this game was released that I never stopped to think about the fact that a game had to have pioneered that mechanic for it to be a thing. As with anything in life, something has to be created before it can gain popularity.

As for it's execution, it definitely has been done better several times over. But what can I expect? This had to be one of the first. Doing some light research, it appears that the concept has been around since 80's with games like Dragon's lair, but was popularized by Shenmue. Either way, cool to see the origins of a mechanic that has become more than commonplace.

Not to mention, it's animated really well.

The funniest fail is when he gets chopped off because he stood there, looking clueless on how to react. XD

This was for some reason the best flash game for me during my childhood. I don't know why but I find the fight scene awesome. This is so much memories and so awesome!
