I like it, it reminds me of solomons key
Your wizard is slide-y-er than Luigi in Super Smash Bros. Melee.
Fix this and you will have a gem.
Eyep! I'll fix this issue in next version!
I completely agree with illuminashock's review just below. Another regret though : it was too short, and it should end on a proper "congratulations" screen, not on the same old "next level screen" followed by the Squigly's Playhouse logo. And why not add some medals for the game ?
Thank you for your response. You can find additional 15 levels on Squigly's site; that's sponsor restriction, sorry. But I'm looking forward to make a sequel :)
I played through the first fourteen levels of your flash game, so my review is only as good as this; but I've noticed a few flaws which could be improved to make your game otherwise something worthy of what could be an NES release. For starters, your magician is sliding around like he is on ice, this isn't cool when he's sliding right into spikes; this is double so when he doesn't deaccelerate mid-jump. I prefer to have a bit more control over my character in my games - if this is not a valid reason, then consider the original Mario Bros. or other platformers of the NES era - most characters deaccelerate when they jump. I also noticed that a few times puzzles don't appear to increase in difficulty, but seem to be more randomly placed - these could probably be moved into the later level difficulty.
However, your game displays several positives. Sounds effects are quit perfect for the game; simple, elegant and 8-bit. Use of ambiance is always a positive because so few games of the modern era use it. Strange to see it in an 8-bit game, no? Also, color scheme for an 8-bit is also great; something with bad graphics just wouldn't fly in a modern setting.
