A long time ago in a FLA file not so far away... I started this project. I've been working on this for almost a year (most of which was procrastinating), but now its finally finished.
In a nutshell, it's the battle of Yavin, only with my SW fan characters. There's 3 game play modes - story mode, survival mode, and 2 player classic mode. No sprites or google images here, all artwork is done by me and some by my friend Eastbeast. However, I did have to lower the quality of some of the graphics, especially the 3d scenes, to keep the file size under control.

Movement = Mouse or WASD/Arrow keys
Fire weapons = Left click or Space bar
Toggle autofire = F key (L key for 2P)
Pause = CTRL key

Potnyx = Lucia-Arah
Anjidu = Melanie
Teejaynumber13 = Himself, Darth vader
Budj = Jan Dodonna

This game was originally supposed to be a modest improvement over my original, just enough to learn the basics of making a shooter in AS3. But I ended up going all out on this one and I learned a ton of code. What really helped me finish this game was two things. My "KaijuKing Must Die" game which helped me solve some problems I was having with the code in this one. And getting Flash CC which was able to handle the large file size without crashing every ten seconds like CS4 did.

A special thanks to Wade Fulp for raising my upload limit. To my friend Esty for the great ending animation and help with some artwork, and to Evil-Dog for some last minute coding advice which led to me solving the issue with the save browser. And a big NO thanks to the pretentious "figure it out yourself" pricks on the NG forums for being 99% useless during this project.

As always, I love getting comments on my work, so please leave one. And I especially appreciate those who elaborate. If you liked it, what did you like about it? And if you hated it, what did you hate about it?

Please enjoy Tie Fighter Assault: Special Edition. Oh and let me know if you spot any bugs or if the game does something weird. And keep your eyes peeled for the easter egg.

The controls are complete shit, especially in the boss fights, I aim my cannon but try to move with wasd, and it can't choose between both. You really need a way to disable the mouse or just make it work together. I really don't know how you could have been this stupid, and if you actually played other games before.

teejay-number13 responds:

I could say the same thing about you. In the boss fights, you control the aiming sight and the ship will follow it. The mouse and keyboard weren't meant to be used in tandem. They're both available for players to pick which one they prefer. So uh was your ineptness at mastering the most simple of controls the only thing that made you think the game was worth a zero?

It took about 5 minutes to load, which I dont think is much of a problem, but then once it loaded and I pushed play its said [ERROR] Unable to load files, and nothing would happen if I tried to make a new file or anything so i couldn't play.

teejay-number13 responds:

Really? I'm not sure what the problem is. It seems to be working for everyone else.

Very nicely done. One of the few real full games I've found here, although short.
With a lot of reasons and tricks to replay, nicely done graphics and cutscenes, variety of gameplay (loved the top down stage), good interaction between the selectable players in the game and each with their personality traces, anyways... really good!
The only two things I want to note are that the game is too short and relatively easy.

teejay-number13 responds:

I think the shorter story mode is a good idea. That way people can at least make it to the end before it loses their interest. And then there are extra characters/rewards for those who want to keep playing.

It's enjoyable, the only two negatives I can think of really, it's rather easy, altho that's not necessarily anything to rank down, however the controls for the surface assault mission at the death star is buggy. You can't go backwords, and if you hold the fire key instead of using auto fire, you can't turn left, only right, while going forward (just too clarify, that is the space bar, right and up arrow keys pressed at once, but you can't do that with the left key instead of the right key) messed me up because I'd be holding down fire, see on item too my left, try to turn only to go straight, I would have to either stop moving forward, or stop firing to turn left. Otherwise, this is a fairly fun fan game. A note on luciara's voice actor. You did a good job, but there was little emotion in it, was a bit monotone, that's all.

teejay-number13 responds:

Yeah I know about the space bar/ left arrow key bug. I haven't been able to figure out why it's doing that , but you can use the auto fire. And your not supposed to be able to fly backwards in that stage. And for Luciara's voice actor, its not easy doing accents and I think she did a great job.

This game is a great time-waster, and in a good way. With 8 different ships to choose from I found myself playing this for quite a long time, and I beat the game with the X wing and then got every ship on Survival.
I seem to be better than EASTBEAST at doing survival, yet he has the 50k badge somehow...?
I'm going to, slowly, beat this game with all 8 ships.
For now I must ask why the "s" key on Stage four ALSO propels you forward, because I wasted 3 continues due to this mechanic and is the reason you have 4 1/2 stars, not 5.

teejay-number13 responds:

Well your not meant to go backwards on stage four. The S key sending you forward is just leftover code from when I was testing playing it with a gamepad. If your ship is facing south, then you would naturally pull down to move forward.
