A long time ago in a FLA file not so far away... I started this project. I've been working on this for almost a year (most of which was procrastinating), but now its finally finished.
In a nutshell, it's the battle of Yavin, only with my SW fan characters. There's 3 game play modes - story mode, survival mode, and 2 player classic mode. No sprites or google images here, all artwork is done by me and some by my friend Eastbeast. However, I did have to lower the quality of some of the graphics, especially the 3d scenes, to keep the file size under control.

Movement = Mouse or WASD/Arrow keys
Fire weapons = Left click or Space bar
Toggle autofire = F key (L key for 2P)
Pause = CTRL key

Potnyx = Lucia-Arah
Anjidu = Melanie
Teejaynumber13 = Himself, Darth vader
Budj = Jan Dodonna

This game was originally supposed to be a modest improvement over my original, just enough to learn the basics of making a shooter in AS3. But I ended up going all out on this one and I learned a ton of code. What really helped me finish this game was two things. My "KaijuKing Must Die" game which helped me solve some problems I was having with the code in this one. And getting Flash CC which was able to handle the large file size without crashing every ten seconds like CS4 did.

A special thanks to Wade Fulp for raising my upload limit. To my friend Esty for the great ending animation and help with some artwork, and to Evil-Dog for some last minute coding advice which led to me solving the issue with the save browser. And a big NO thanks to the pretentious "figure it out yourself" pricks on the NG forums for being 99% useless during this project.

As always, I love getting comments on my work, so please leave one. And I especially appreciate those who elaborate. If you liked it, what did you like about it? And if you hated it, what did you hate about it?

Please enjoy Tie Fighter Assault: Special Edition. Oh and let me know if you spot any bugs or if the game does something weird. And keep your eyes peeled for the easter egg.

Wow, I see you put A LOT of work in this one! The grahics were good, especially the 3D stuff. The sounds and the music added much of the Star Wars feeling. I totally dig the dialogs and the witty humor, which was something in between the film dialogs and your own jokes, the voice actors are GREAT! I loved the beginning of the levels as they join the fight and help you and the witty chit-chat goes on. An powerup like this would be nice,so they come helping you for a brief time in the levels. The general look of the ships and the other stuff reminded me of the LEGO Star Wars games, which I love. I liked that you can choose between 3 different ships, which have different sizes and firing patterns.

I had some problems with the steering, it would be better if you could change the type of movement (keyboard or mouse) in the menu. When I switched between keyboard an mouse, or tried to use both, either the ship stopped firing, because I clicked, or my ship moved to the side of the screen were I moved the mouse to not be distracted by the mouse cursor. The tutorial should be skipable, I dont want to see it again and again when I have to start the first level again. Also some of the movie scenes, although they are awesome. I also missed scores for the shooting, as in survival mode. The explosion of the seismic charge is too small. Most of the time it didnt hit anything in the first level, later it has more impact.
The firing is too fast to really dodge the enemies lasers. When you finish a level, the enemies should not suddenly dissapear, maybe a fade out would be better.

Overall, the game was a little bit to hard for my taste, especially the low armor when you are in front of the laser turrets.

Thank you for this fine one, I definately love it:)

Thanks for the review. This was partially inspired by Lego star wars. As far as the movement, a lot of people are not getting how it works. You can't use the mouse and keyboard together. When you mouse, it turns off the keyboard and vica versa. Originally I was planning an option on the menu to choose, but I thought it would be more convenient for players to be able to switch whenever they wanted.
I didn't really see the need to add a skip to cut scenes that only lasted around 20 seconds. As far as the enemy's just vanishing, that's just where the game clears the playing field so you can move on to the next frame without causing errors. You wouldn't believe how had that was to program. Stage 4 can be tough, but some people complained about it being too easy.

I see you finished your game Teejay. I have to say that this game is amazing. I had a lot of fun playing. The animations were great, The dificulty was well balanced and it does fell exactly like a star wars movie. I noticed that the charectors stories were kinda inspire from swtor. I think what would make this game interesting is adding a scoring system.

Anyway you should give yourself a pat on the back for it.

teejay-number13 responds:

SWTOR? You mean Star Wars :The Old Republic? I never actually played it. Thanks for the compliments. A scoring system wouldn't work since the levels advance after you kill enough enemies. So you would essentially end up with almost the same score every time. I am however working on a mobile version that does rely on time and score based progression.
