UPDATED! New features include:
-You can optionally make the Ninja Fridges gray instead of white, but you can't get the "MFNF" medal with this option set.
-You can disable explosions from jumping, but there will be a slight delay after each jump where you cannot jump.
-You can now sync your medals to Newgrounds in the options menu. I think.
-Jumps, LiftPoles, the Outhouse, and Slalom Gates should no longer explode when you hit them at any time. Theoretically.
-Hopefully fixed a few menu glitches.
-Perhaps an Easter Egg and other small changes.

I'm not sure when you'll be able to see this update, and you may need to clear your cache (is that how the internet works?), but I think it will greatly improve your free-skiing experience!

Also, a BIG THANK YOU to every who has left kind words about my game! It means a lot to me when people leave feedback (even the negative feedback), so thank you for taking the time to do so!

EDIT: Thank you so much for the front page, Newgrounds! When developers are given chances like this, it reminds me of why Newgrounds is the best site ever! Never change, and thanks again!

Option 1: Use the Mouse to aim your guy and Click to jump
Option 2: Left and Right to turn, Up to stop, Down to go full speed, and Space to jump.
Other keys do other things...

This game. This ******* game. This has been a game I've been working on for almost two years now. I was making this before Feed the Children, but I wanted to release it in the winter and could never finish it before it was over.

Well now it's here, so enjoy.

And also, my apologies.

Quite fun, but.. I've no idea how to dodge ninja fridge -_- the first time I played it I really enjoyed it.. the other times I've been ninja fridged almost instantly... I think I'll give up for now, 10 times in a row is all I can handle >,<

Still, I can tell alot of effort went into this, and it feels like it could be awesome. Any way to avoid the ninja fridge?

If you press "L", you go into the psychedelic mode. You have the random color thing, but the white fridges show up. You could also do a custom run with no fridges. And I think I removed the fridges in Style Run and Slalom Run.

200 meter/second, let's see... That's about 900KM/hour or 400m/h. Sweet, I almost broke the sound barrier by sliding down a mountain!

I don't think this game takes itself too serious so I don't see any reason to be a tight-ass about the game. It's simple, crude and straight-forward. The limitations are obvious (cheap sound effects, no power-ups) but that's okay because I didn't expect those, considering the simple graphics.

Good luck on your next game!

DBuck-Eye responds:

Thanks man! Speed was really in pixels/second, even though a meter was ~4 pixels, relatively. I was gonna fix that, but, in my opinion, why ski at 40m/s, when you could do 200?

As a general rule, when you make a game that is a rip off/tribute/whatever you want to call this to a game that's more than a decade old and somehow manages to be less fun than it, you've done something wrong. Namely, that you seem well aware of how awful the random deaths are, and yet seem to think the "humour" makes up for it. One, no it doesn't. Two, even if the random deaths didn't make this game completely not worth playing, you aren't exactly winning me over with your "humour" either. Ninja fridge? Accidental explosions? That's the kind of jokes you felt were worth allowing poor game design?

Fact is, if this is honestly something that took you two years to make, you need to either give up or rethink your understanding of game design. If I want an awful and boring skiing simulator, I and the rest of the world has Ski Free. I frankly don't know what someone would have to want to have any desire to play this though.

DBuck-Eye responds:

As far as scathing reviews go, this one is pretty well-prepared and coherent, so I'll just agree to disagree. Thanks for playing!

A really fun game. You have to give it some time though, don't decide it's crap after playing for 10 secs. There are more options and more humor in it then you'd expect.

DBuck-Eye responds:

Thanks for the kind words!

I normally don't break games like these (well created games) unless for a good reason, but this is just like a remake of an old pc games during the 1990's (Dos games etc.) with a little more added features.
What the hell does that mean?
My quote meant there is an old pc game exactly like this with aimless sking that led to being killed by a yeti. It's wonderful you brought and old game back... in till i blew up from jumping? (Confused for blowing your self up.) That's just a design already to give frustration- Non-needed might I ask.

This game has a hell of a grand potential for fun with friends if you wish to do a competition, but I suggestion you re-adjust that blowing up confusion. Maybe put a bomb on the game that straps to you if you end up running in too it, creating that probability to happen instead of JUST happening out of random jumps. It would make this game so much more lively and beautiful.

Other then that, I have to give this a 0. Though Chin up, your on a wonderful progression.

DBuck-Eye responds:

There's an old game like this? I had no idea. What was it called? Free Skiing? Ski game? Something silly, like, SkiFree? I should research this.
