The game is played with the arrow keys.

Well, well, you are going to recreate life using a colorful source of energy. You want to put 3 blocks in a row or next to each other to produce a new element. Sometimes, it does not work the way it should because it is just alchemy. As you are provoking chain reactions, you can get bonuses. Your score depends on the value of the elements you have created. Oh, and you lose once your pile goes past the top line.

I give this version of the game a 4 stars. Reason why I give the game that many stars is because some things just don't feel worth playing for. I will first say that the concept gets a full 5 stars because the game is overall pretty good. Now here is where I start to cut away a star at the game's playability. See, I like the powerups you can get. It gives the game a feel of reward for how much work I put into combining elements and boost my score. The one thing I don't like is the fact that when I get my powerups I get points subtracted from my score. So basically I work for the bonus powerups only to be punished for using them. I usually put them to the side in an empty space but that defeats the purpose of the powerups. The glitch of the random element change is also a pain but I guess I can get used to that because the game is still fun. It's like that one game Doodle God with a mix of tetris. It's still fun and I hope it gets a Version 2 where the bugs are worked out.

Are you pointing at the random alchemy result ? It's actually a game design error, but we're aware of it. However it is hard for us to change it now as this was an old project back when we were students and we're now working on games full time.

Addictive as hell, but annoying as hell too.

First off, is this a remake? There is a game from 2006 with the same name and mechanics but different graphics.

The random alchemy may be an important gameplay mechanism but IT'S GODDAMN FRUSTRATING TO GET SCREWED OVER BY RANDOM REPEATEDLY. Then again, I did play repeatedly...

Curiously, the random fusion of blocks isn't really random at least when position is concerned. The resulting fused-blocks always appear in the lowest point and/or as far left as possible. This caused problems for me in that the bottom left corner would accumulate more than the other side. If the block spawned at the lowest point and randomly among glowing spaces at the same level, this could increase the number of possible approaches a player could employ.

Either way, it felt annoying that the eventual spawn location of the block was predictable while the type of block could be random.

Nice aesthetic, music needs more variety or mute button.

Ultimately, I think this should be shared on NG.

Valerien responds:

This game has been made a while ago while my programmer friend and I were just starting off. Although we didn't take much reference for this one, the gameplay is pretty classical so I don't doubt a similar project already exists.

We're working on much bigger projects right now so I must admit it is unlikely we'll change the core mechanics at that point, but we understand the randomness problem.
