Excellent design, music, pacing, story and control. You've created a wonderful side-scroller that wouldn't look out of place on the SNES or Mega Drive back in the day. I mapped up XPadder and it worked a dream, felt like a proper retro title!
Few things though. Firstly, the absence of any sort of map is odd, considering the size and complexity of the world. I had so much trouble figuring out where I'd been and where certain things were. Also, that first boss is WAY too hard and often glitches. One try I hit him 6 times before any health came off. The first time it took about 5 hits to get him down to a tiny bit of health (before I died), the second time it was at least 8. The amount of green things he spits and the random amount of times you have to hit him make it a much too difficult first boss. I still haven't beaten it and the level of unfairness has put me off the game for a while at least.
Still, great game and I'm certain I'll be coming back to it in the future :)
If you decide to play the game again, make sure to hit the '?' button to get a hint. I don't want to spoil anything here. There is something you have overlooked about the boss - it's not random or unfair at all!
Thanks for the compliments. Having the game compared to old school SNES games is flattering!
AWESOME game, but once you get the gun, the combat is a complete cake walk
I had trouble with the A control. Holding it down would prevent me from pressing it again immediately afterwards. I also had trouble with the saving/checkpoints. I would save a bit from a checkpoint, and it would send me two checkpoints back. But otherwise, this is a really great game.
Absolutely amazing.. Great story line. Loved it. Loved the little secret hideout gave me a chuckle. I like the feel of the game, it just gets you into it. Loved it. great job.
Why not just make autosave? I closed game and lost my progress, because 99% games autosave progress.
