Yep, it's done.

Second Wind, folks, Second Wind is here.

It's a witty blend of Text Adventure, Roguelike, and Sweet Simplicity.

All in all, there are 20 classes, three skills each, three major areas, four endings, countless monsters (as in, I'm too lazy to count them,) treasures, specialty shops, equips, weapons, and more.

Folks, this is one big game.

Also, there are medals, lots of em'

I sincerely dare you to beat the game on Nethack Difficulty.

And remember, dying is all a part of the experience :D

The last update was on October 21st, Version 1.57:

- Fixed up the Saiyan's awaken doing absolutely nothing.
- Fixed the broken meter glitch... Hopefully.
- The "explore" segment should run faster.
- And some other stuff I can't remember.

Send a PM with any additional problems and I'll get on them as soon as possible! <-- Now there's a wiki too!

squidly responds:

You sir, need more dexterity.

That, or a lot of potions.

Even on easy this game is TOO DIFFICULT. Dungeon wanderers and angry mob need to be nerfed, they always kill me because my attacks miss.

squidly responds:

I'll nerf them, it is the first level, I suppose.

This game has kept me going for days, and finally, after going through several classes and various annoying defeats, I defeated all the gods and beat the final boss using the esper at level 21 on easy difficulty. I noticed that characters had various rates of accuracy, with the Esper having minimal accuracy unless you make it so the attack hits guaranteed. Others have fair amount of accuracy, more or less. I would have thought that Dexterity would represent accuracy and evasivness, but it only seems to affect the chances of you running away (at least from my observation). Melee classes I find easy to use, but sometimes suffer from accuracy. Magic classes do well in attacks, but relying on magic reserves, especially when they can quickly run out, puts you at a disadvantage. Esscense can help out, but you have to be careful of when you use them. Classes that rely on devotions can be good, but only if you run into the right ones, and even then, can be harmful to your stats. Utility ones are okay, I really have no complaints about them.

Now the monsters are a different story. First level ones are okay, but the mob, the dungeon wanderer, and the ghost are annoying as they can block your attacks unless you have a buff/debuff on accuracy. Second level monsters seem to be hard, especially since many characters can't seem to hit them until several rounds later. Since I've only been able to get to the third level with the esper, and thus have no idea how sucssessful accuracy is against them; I'm guessing you have to be really good, or you'll struggle a lot.

So all in all, after you've fixed several of the problems (which I thank you for by the way), I give this game a 4 out of 5. I think if you had an accuracy stat, you'll have a much better game. But other than those possible flaws, I think this game is great.

I do have some questions though:

1. how do you get pieces of time? Are they exclusive to harder difficulties of the game?

2. what's the best way to get the pessimist medal?

Thank you in advance, if you answer them for me. You can pm me if it spoils too much

squidly responds:

Alright, so it's actually a misconception that Dex actually effects Running...

It doesn't.

You always have a 1/3 chance of escaping.

As for dex, I don't know if you noticed it, but it's actually completely dependent on your Dex stat. HOWEVER, some attacks are less accurate then others, for example, the Shoryuken is less accurate then the Hadoken. I'm planning on starting up a Wiki which will explore the nitty gritty, but generally speaking - the more powerful the attack, the less accurate.

The difference is the amount of dice you add, for the record, for example - the Darkfolk BOOM has absolutely no dice added to it - this is because it's immensely powerful, while the Archer's "careful shot" has a significant +D10 advantage to Dex.

1. Pieces of time can be found by defeating monsters encountered in Time Anomolies when you wander in Spediphis's road.

2. Take a class with a really low starting stat, get a lot of money, and 'offer' multiple times at a God until it goes into the negatives.

This game was wonderful, extremely simple and looked cool too!
I wish this came to the iOs as a free game!
I wish you made 4 sequels for this game.

squidly responds:

I wish this was on iOS too - if anyone's up for doing the neigh-impossible task of porting an AS2 game to iOS or Android, send me a PM!
