Set on a evolutionary adventure where you must devour the weak and survive against
the strong so you may evolve and reach the top of the food chain!

Here's my entry for Ludum Dare 24! The theme this time was Evolution. Ludum Dare is a world wide game developing contest where participants must work alone and create a game from given theme in under 48 hours.

In this game, you must travel the stages and eat creatures that are smaller than you. After you have eaten
enough, you are ready to evolve and you need to find the stage exit to proceed to the next level. You need to eat around 20 creatures to get a message that you are ready to evolve. You don't have to eat every single creature in the level.

Use arrow keys to move and jump/swim
Use Space to bite.
Use P to pause
- and + to adjust volume
0 to mute/unmute
Esc to return to main menu

NOTE: If the game appears very laggy for you, try different browser. No guarantee, but I've heard it's fixed the problem with some folks.

Little bit on the short side but it was fun while it lasted, since it was made in 48 hours its very impressive.

don't get it

Cool constructive criticism, bro.

For a game out of lots that have been made in 48 hours, this one is actually decent.
The graphics are enjoyable, the controls are good and overall gameplay is good.
There was only one map thing that made me believe it was a platform, but made me fall to death.

The sounds and music are good too, I cannot expect anything more from a game that was made in 48 hours.

I really dont like the 48 hour contests. They do nothing but make games that are disappointing.
This one was one of the only good games to come out off the contests. It is really awesome... for the limitations put on it. It is obvious it was made in a very short time. I would much rather see this kind of well made effort put into a real game, not some hokey contest.

But seriously good job on this one guys.

This is basically E.V.O. Search for Eden (a SNES game), only it isn't mind-numbingly boring (only because it's too short for how boring it is to become apparent), it has no story (E.V.O. barely had one but it was crap), your music is better, and you don't get to go in a menu and spend points gained from eating things on new traits and have each evolution be caused by a combination of different characteristics. Like other people have said, this is AMAZING for something you made in 48 hours, but you can vastly outdo it in a sequel. I recommend that you get a rom of E.V.O. and play it for a few hours. Long enough to try out everything but short enough that the feeling of punishment on yourself is kept to a minimum. You wouldn't need to play it all the way to the end, and I wouldn't wish that on anybody, but copy what E.V.O. did right and avoid or improve on everything else.
