EDIT: Ver 1.5 is up. I've tweaked the running and braking a little. Movement should be more fluid now. I've also enlarged the offscreen window, so NPC popup should be nonexistant now. Enjoy and keep up with the feedback!

A Tale of Colours is a nonlinear platform game with heavy emphasis on exploration. In this game you will find:

- A huge world filled with peculiar characters
- Colours and retro pixel graphics

i like, however, this kind of old styled games. maybe music is a bit repetitive.

Fantastic Game. I'm giving it 4.5 stars because I do have a few gripes

Gripe 1: The controls can be a tad messy. Not a huge deal, but I felt I didn't have as much control as I wanted. The game could be laggy sometimes, which is something many games are guilty of, but it seemed like the jumps could be all over the place sometimes and running to get coins could sometimes be crazy as well. Maybe it's my browser though.(I use Google Chrome)

Gripe 2: Although the game was fun, it was really short for me. I found all of the treasures, perfected all the coin runs, and beat the game in just over an hour. There were only 2 enemies and they were very easy to kill. There were only 2 other things that could hurt you and I don't want to spoil it for anybody but the author should know what I'm talking about.

Gripe 3: The story was lackluster in my opinion. I didn't really care if the main character were to die or get raped by a gnome army. There was no real antagonist to look forward to fighting. I understand that the goal of the game was more geared toward finding treasures, but a stronger plot with a villain or rival could have made it so much better.

The game has so much potential and I'm hoping for some kind of sequel or a game similar to it, just with more detail and better controls. Maybe with some other cool mechanics? More enemies, more treasure that are harder to find, more coin runs, and more obstacles.

Nevertheless, this is a great game. Kudos to the author. I don't want to hand out a 5 star rating to a game that I feel can be improved, but with some changes this game I would consider buying this game on XBLA or The 3DS online store.

A rather brilliant, if clunky game.

This game is quite big, or feels like it. Moreover, it's fun! A lot of platformers these days don't have that sense of open-ness, and a sadly large number lack the amusing flair and witticisms present in A Tale of Colour.
The music is quite nice, and I found myself mulling over the instrumentation as it went on. It was generally quite fitting. I thoroughly enjoyed the first of the two secret medals, which I leave unmentioned for those here with a desire to find it themselves. Even more liked was the fact that you alluded to it in a signpost, changing it from "Secret" to "Easter egg", which are far more fun!

The controls are indeed clunky. Most noticeable is a lack of responsiveness. Often I'd have to hit a key twice to make it register, but that may have been lag from my computer.
Other bugs I noticed are -- the render distance is a bit low. I noticed that entities only show up if they're on screen. However, they tended to turn up late in the main world, resulting in spontaneously appearing Save points and the like!
My favourite bug, however, which is actually quite curious, is a bug that lets you fly. If you Glide into a sloping water area -- the kind that you normally slide down from -- you will slide UP it... and then resume gliding, going up instead of down (albeit slowly).
The last one I noticed was that if you tap Z rapidly while under a low roof, you can double jump over and over.

The story I didn't quite understand, though I did enjoy it. If you fleshed it out a little, it would be quite excellent, I think.
The graphics, however, were fantastic. Bright and vibrant, and I really enjoyed them. The dot-matrix style background near the start was interesting!

Given I am certain you'll improve in development as time goes on, and also in style - and I sincerely hope you'll keep the humour *Grins* - I have only one word. Sequel!

I've uploaded a new version that takes care - a little - of the controls and the NPC popup problem. it's all I can do for the time being. For any further revision I will have to make significant changes to the game code, so, in case, you'll need to wait for a while :/

Epic Game. I personally love adventure games and this adds to my enjoyment. The beginning was pretty well thought up. I didn't really have a problem with the controls, I quickly adjusted. Hope there will be a sequel out soon.

Glitch: When you jump off of the gnome blimp, you just hover in the air and there is no possible way to stop from "falling". Even after a while, the controls stop working and I eventually had to refresh the page (thank goodness for the save stations, which I thought were oddly placed).

Controls should be more fluid. It's not obstacles that stand in my way, it's the character's movement.
It's a great game othwerwise!
