Great game! Reminds of great classics like Mad Dog Mcgree, Lethal enforcers etc. The gameplay and style takes me back in time to alot of spent quarters! I know you said your already working on another one and I can't wait to see it. Just got to make sure the costumes are more period and that everybody is not using double action revolvers. Btw that was some beautiful country where was that shot at?

Kenney responds:

Basically we had a budget of $26 USD for this movie, so we had to buy the cheapest (Halloween) hats available and only had 1 plastic gun through the whole movie. Each production we'll get a higher budget which would allow us to do more things and buy and maker better props. Just this one was dirt cheap :)

The movie is shot in the southern part of the Netherlands.

Well, that was... different. I liked it, and i have to recognize, because i dont know if anyone has done it, the HUGE LOT OF WORK that implies shooting all of those scenes! I have made a few movies on my own, and filming is difficult, and i can barely imagine filming this. I haven't found any troubles in the conection to youtube, and yet i dont see why it has to be done that way (in youtube i mean), but what do i know about programing!?, the most i've ever written is html :P. The sound was nice, it was dubbed, or recorded in the place? Weird to see cowboys speaking in dutch, but nice tho. Subtitles were good, and the fuck, i got tired just by thinking of the work that this implies. It's nice to see something different from time to time, and i hope to see more of you guys! Keep up the good work, and show us part 2! My rating, 5 out of 5.

Kenney responds:

Has to be done through YouTube because the movie size is too big to upload on Newgrounds or any other website for that matter. The sound was all dubbed and yeah, this took a couple of months to create.

Thanks for your review, cheers!

The only reason for the half a star is because of the quickdraw style gameplay content. There are 2 main things wrong with this game that keeps it from receiving a higher rating. 1st...While the concept behind the game is great the gameplay was glitchy and choppy. I realize this isn't your fault because of the youtube connection but that doesn't make it any more enjoyable no matter whose fault it is. 2nd...It's a western right? So why in the world is the spoken language in Spanish? That ruined the whole mood for me. Maybe it's just me but I don't remember John Wayne having a Spanish accent.

Kenney responds:

Yeah, you might have done some more research on what language is spoken. It's Dutch, not Spanish.

In fact, did you know that most popular Westerns are spoken in Italian, filmed in Spain and then re-dubbed in English? But because most Americans don't want to read subtitles they had to dub them. For example A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, The Good/the Bad/the Ugly and ofcourse Once Upon a Time in the West. So you might have wanted to do more research on that too.

John Wayne didn't have a Spanish accent, but that's mainly because he's an idiot and a bad actor and I feel bad for you that that's the one guy you seem to relate the Westerns.

You've got lots of learning to do and I actually feel a bit bad for you so I'm going to end this reaction.

Still glad you played our game, thanks!

I like the concept of the game, but you really need to make a sequel, and make it to where you can take cover, and save your game.

Kenney responds:

Sequel is in the planning, we'll have to wait for better weather to start shooting though. We only get 2 days of sun in the Netherlands.

This game is so retro. Some of the animations when you shoots the bad guys were really choppy and the backgrounds seemed to change color in a very noticable fashion. The blood effects were really cheesy too. But overall it`s good for a laugh or two and you can feel that the people did this on a extremely tight budget and for what it is it`s not bad at all.

Kenney responds:

The animations being choppy is a fault by YouTube. Basically we can only skip video to whole seconds, so if we filmed a bad guy dying at 1 minute, 10 seconds, we can't skip there but instead have to do 1 minute. This might come out bad to a point where the bad guy isn't falling dead yet or he did already fall dead and it results in looking choppy.

The backgrounds was just because we only had 1 actor for the bad guys (me) and in between shots I had to change costumes. So that took while and that gave the sun a chance to change.
