Shadow of the Animators

DISCLAIMER: At one point in this short I make a little joke about Machinima, I want to make it clear that, I have no problems with Machinima, I'm a Machinima director. I'm not the greatest animator in the world, but my opinion of SOME of the other Machinima animators is quite low, in fact because of how bad their animations are it INSPIRED me to animate, because if they can do it, anyone can.

Anyway, this is just a little animation about me making more animations. So every cartoon I make is essentially part of a series about me becoming a better animator, and potentially befriending other great animators! This was also a little tribute to every animator mentioned in the video, cause you know, I'm "fighting the best to become the best" sort of deal.

And the song at the end is "The Sunlit Earth," from Shadow of the Colossus.

EDIT: Sometimes when the video loads it might zoom in, just right click and "show all." I have no idea why it's doing this now.

oh my gosh!!! totally called the SoC refrence from the pic you put up!!!! nice animation. Loved it!!! XD

I liked this, and it was pretty funny. Animation was great and your style is very clean. I rate it 4 stars, however, because of two things: 1) The beginning was pretty boring and fairly drawn out. I realize you wanted to make it seem awe-inspiring and epic, but I think there should have been more camera-pans or detailed views of your adventurer's garb or the horse, writings along the walls as he rides down the passageway, or something, I don't know, something to keep the viewers interested in the beginning to "grip" them, so they can grasp how epic and sacred this place is as you want them to understand. 2) The Old English subtitles of the Internet god...Some of them were embarassingly cheesy/wrong: "If thou manage to accomplish what I askest"...that one REALLY bugged me. Also, he switches between using "you" and "thou", and other such words. It just really bothered me. Sorry to nitpick but in my opinion it made the animation look unprofessional, thrown together, you know. Although the rest was great. Overall, good job, and I hope your animating idols become your friends :D

Hah thanks! Yeah I did kinda go back and forth with ancienty godly speak and normal american english, in my defense that specific sentence you don't like is exactly what the voice says in the game Shadow Of The Colossus lol, I didn't like it either but I figured I'd use exactly what he said, and the long drawn out scenes were just as long and exactly how they were in SotC, I shortened it a bit though.

Thanks again! :]

A great flash. The jokes were sprinkled in conservatively but with great effect. The Call of Duty reference was hilarious to me as they're such terrible games anymore. It'd be TORTURE to play CoD just to make a cartoon about it for hours and hours lol.

Keep makin' your queer little cartoons brah.

Hah thanks, I like how you worded that, sprinkled in conservatively :D

Extremely well made animation. I've watched your videos since HIGT: Dark Souls and SWTOR and according to me, you've earned your place among the betters.

Oh stawp it! <3

In the end, it all doesn't really matter.
No matter how much someone improves in animation, he will still improve on his specific style. It could be based off a vast, brilliant imagination or just an uninteresting farce. Based off how people see animators really concern the people animating. :P
However, you really got something going on. Your art and backgrounds are beautiful (color, line art, effect) and have quite the ideas. You can be quite the star on the internet; but the truth we all must face is finding the right "zing" to make our animations shine. It usually takes years, but only the determined can be great.
You're doing alright so far. Keep doin' what ya love, and you will be like the guy below me "talkin' to u mr muffin". :)

Yeah, I understand that this does take time, and each animator does have their "zing," I'm still looking for mine :) Thanks!
