** 30,000 views! What a nice number. Thanks for playing, anyone who played!
**UPDATE 5/9 - Fixed a performance issue. Should run a little smoother. Also, frontpaged, woo-hoo!
**UPDATE 5/7 - Added "CTRL" as a run option for those with keyboard issues. This might have erased some people's data. I hope not, but if so I'm sorry :/ your scores/medals are of course still there.

Inspiration Dave is a platformer. You control a character on a mission to find inspiration through musical notes throughout whatever world he lives in - via going through 33 small platforming stages, with three goals: Finish the stage, collect all 20 notes, and finish the stage 100% very quickly! Only finishing the stage is necessary. There are unlockable secrets for how many notes you collect and stages you finish quickly. I wrote the soundtrack and created the graphics myself, for better or worse! :)

Controls: "/" denote any of the keys work.

X/J/UP/SPACE/W: Jump (tap/hold to change height)
CTRL/Z/K: Hold to run, cancel menu
SHIFT: Toggle "auto-run!" you'll always run with this on. Not advised as you will want more fine-tuned movement in some spots, but hey, do whatever.
left/right, or A/D: Move
DOWN/S: Enter door/interact
P: Pause, Q: Quit stage, R: Restart stage, M: Mute

Made over 12/11-3/12, but mostly 2012.

I wasn't even going to write a review, as this sort of game isn't my usual cup of tea, but I just wanted to congratulate you on your amazing reply to pin-head1's "review" and pitch in a 5-star to help cover his zero-bomb. Just keep in mind that anyone who would call himself that most certainly is one.

As for the game itself, like I said, it's not exactly my cup of tea, but the production value is great and the controls are tight. Keep it up, and you have great things in your future.

Cheers mate, keep up the good work.

Thanks for the kind words and the congratulations on my earlier reply :PPP occasionally, i can get kind of extreme on my views on games. glad you like the controls!

Great game ! ^.^

Seagaia responds:

Thank you!

Excellent all-around platformer. Level design is great and the controls are pretty good. Time goals could be much shorter on some of the later levels (beating par by 15+ seconds feels rather silly), but overall they're good too. I sat down and didn't get up until I'd finished it a little under half an hour later.

My only real complaint is the obstacles which require you to jump onto a block directly above you, jumping out to the side and back; while these are normally fine in games with Mario-style momentum like this one, these controls are just a tad bit too unresponsive for that sort of obstacle to be more fun than frustrating. Luckily, as far as I can recall, those only show up on X-1 and X-2.

Seagaia responds:

Thanks for playing through all of it! Yeah, those jumps are frustrating as hell so I only put them in the last stages as sort of a "well hey look what you can do." Plus the times are generous since getting through them is difficult!

I was very split on par times for later levels. Would people be sufficiently motivated to play through for 62 seconds and miss it by a second? Or would they be angry. How would I feel? I would feel pissed off so I increased it a bit. Tough design call, I guess.

Aah, the creativity of Newgrounders. Also, pixels and chill-pill addiction! this is a great platformer with a unique plot, good show!

Seagaia responds:

Thanks dude, appreciate the kind words.

its a nice game but takes forever to load if you can fix it i will be a phenomenal game ( which it al ready is ) ....... but yeah really good game.
