Pip the Robot:Forest Fire

This is the first complete animated short featuring Pip the Robot. I have used the character a fair few times before but only usually for testing purposes.

I animated this piece in Cinema 4D and added elements in After Effects. I also used Flash to draw the face, and naturally to embed the movie for you guys. I made this for Day 99 of my Daily Artwork blog and there's a link you can click on the loader screen to get you to either the Tumblr or the Facebook like page. Also, Happy Easter to everyone! :)

Lol that was cute!

Haha, wonderful overkill attempt on the flame :P Good work dude!

very good graphics medium, I am interested in your blog and cinema 4d now though at 13 mb it's quite a big file

Zictor responds:

The file is the size it is because it's an embedded FLV file at the highest resolution that newgrounds allows. If the cartoon was any longer I would have exported it at a lower resolution.

Cinema 4D is a very nice piece of software and I suggest watching tutorials online as there are many of them, also being quite intuitive helps. I did some stuff in After Effects too, mainly the fire at the end but I colour graded the whole film to have the blueish tint for night time. Also if you've got a tumblr follow the blog, I'm updating it every day until December 31st this year.

it was nice : )

It's not bad for a short. Actually I kinda found it funny and it made me chuckle a little. It'd be nice if it to be a bit longer so we could see the effect of that tree catching fire and pip's reactions to it. Anyways good jerb with the short!

Zictor responds:

Thanks for your review. It is quite difficult to portray your vision through action alone. I quite like implied humour hence why the fire starts at the end of the animation.... it's implied that he didn't do very well even though he thinks he's put out the fire, the fact that he doesn't see that he made it worse to me is funnier.
