Ragnarok Eternal is a tale of burrito, grinding, cash shops, and griefers. Don't worry about today's date, this game requires a 12 week playthrough to complete. Stockholders, chocolate, etc, happy april fools.

now the NG version had a lot of the flashy effects thrown out of the window because there are too many flash apps on the screen already

so if you want to play the version with full effects and NO LAG, follow this link:

Sorry for not working this out properly.

--- known issues ---
1. jumping through lava pit will make your character disappear: please do not attempt to access unfinished content
2. slide kicking Zealotus to death will make your character disappear: my bad

also will include map and keyboard based dialogue in future releases, thanks for the complaints, meant a lot.

As a veteran of Ragnarok Online, and an avid Metroid/Castlevania fan I can safely say a few things about this wonderful submission:

1.) The mash up was brilliant.
While not exactly perfect, the theme and story of the game was enough to make me want to keep playing and delve into this world.

2.) Equipment
Having a small, but useful array of gear is nice. Much better than 10,000 different choices that sport no variety. I liked being able to swap weapons on the fly with the E key as well.

3.) Enemies
The way you interpreted Ragnarok Online's enemies into a side scrolling action game was brilliant. I almost freaked out when I found my first Injustice and did not want to be on the receiving end of his Sonic Blow special. Marionettes, golems, zombies, skeletons, Owl Duke (I think it's Duke, I don't remember) they were all seamlessly represented in a great way.

As much as I might regret saying this, I was surprised that I didn't find any Mimics (oh god I hate those things).

4.) Combat
The combat was fun, and never really got old. I could see me playing this game for a long time (well if it was a finished product anyway) and enjoying every second of it.

5.) Skills
While I should just include this under Combat, I'm not.
The skills were unique and fun. The up+atk and fall+down+atk moves reminded me of Zelda 2 (which is good) Blade Beam was really fun (I always wished my Lord Knight could do that)

6.) Stats kind of confused me for a bit. Stars is definitely different. I was expecting a stat table with points but this worked out nicely too.

I love it. A brilliant mash up that seamlessly brings together many elements from successful game archetypes and doesn't leave me feeling like anything wasn't done justice.

I sincerely hope you plan on finishing this project (and perhaps expanding it a little...perhaps character classes? Or Job advancement?)

This game is ABOVE 100%, if I could vote more than 5 on it, I would.

ShadowWhoWalks responds:

thanks for the long and detailed review, along with praises enough to last me through winter. The rest of the game will hopefully be on par with what you've had so far.

Oh yeah, and thanks for reminding me about mimics, will throw some in there.

Great game! A question though. Why wont the chick who teleports you look at the curse ruby? As of right now the only secret boss I could find was at the beginning of the game. Other than that I think the game is great! I hope to see more of it.

The game said i was a cynical, calculating, evil bastard :P also the sound effects from the menus sound ALOT like the one from SOTN. dont know if its on purpose or not but its cool none the less because its one of my favorite game though

the game is AWESOME!!! it feels like playing an uber castlevania with really cool characters and enemies... haven't leveled beyond 8 cuz i'm too lazy to keep on playing lol the idea is awesome! keep at it!
