Traitor puts you into the shoes of a soldier of the Augustan Hegemony, forced to rise up against your former masters after you're ordered to do something you simply cannot accept. Explore the Aventinus Complex, complete missions, upgrade your ship and gather allies until you can overthrow the tyrants who have brought such misery to the people.

[Note: If you're playing in Firefox and experience odd control problems, try switching to Chrome or Opera.]

[Current version: 1.7]

1. The game opens up after the 4th mission, when you reach the map.
2. Upgrades are available in shops on the map screen.
3. The menu allows you to see your stats, achievements and allies.
4. If a mission is too difficult, try playing a different one and upgrading your ship.
5. In some situations, survival is more important than destroying all enemy ships.

If your medals aren't unlocking, this is probably because the NG server is having some hiccups. Try reloading the page and see if the preloader ad is being displayed. Then go to the in-game Achievements screen; the game will try to unlock any medals you should already have.

Wow. I find that most flash games lack a story, but this had a really good one. The moral choice you make at the beginning is actually a really tough one, which rivals Mass Effect. Not to mention the bosses are all really original and stand out from each other. The only problem I have with this so far is that there's just so much stuff! There's enough content in this simple flash to be an XBLA game.

Wow... that is the best way to describe it, 3 hours of gameplay, an involved storyline, this is a shooter that can probably compete with starwish. The theme was nice, and I'm definitely rooting for a sequel. Though I must ask if you took Latin, I noticed a lot of references besides just quotes. Even the flag ships were named for something, but I don't really get the calligula one, which I guess you named for the emperor... but it actually means little feet. Great game, keep up the good work. 5/5

JonasKyratzes responds:

About Caligula: I figured it had been long enough that the nickname had become sort of official. Possibly the ship is actually called the Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus Germanicus, or perhaps just the Gaius, but since the nickname is more commonly known and less easily confused with other figures, people just call it the Caligula. (I thought about this a bit when I made the game, because I wanted a recognizable reference that still somehow made sense in this alternate history.)

wow!so fun!i did not see any flaw in this superb game!
tips on the last ship of the game:
when the ship starts shooting, run far away from the ship.later the ship will stop firing for a few seconds and start firing again.use this time to cross over to another side.when the ship starts shooting again, repeat the steps.
pps:it's best to shoot and run

Very fun and very addictive! A bit slow to start, though...

Excellent game.

I really like the "minimalistic graphics" approach you seem to have taken here.
It really adds to the atmosphere

Also, the amount of options, missions and upgrades makes for one massive game.
Gameplay itself is also quite solid.

Music fits together with the atmosphere quite well too.

the only thing I myself find a bit regrettable is the lack of a "new game plus" option.
