Sir Yallow OC Battle #7

This is part of a 2007 set of Flash Movies I put together for an Original Battle competition (I was the only participant who was using Flash) Each round lasted a week, as such the flash had to be completed inside that time frame.

The general idea behind the competition was to depict your character besting the other. They would of course do their own version as well.

Round 7 - Semi Finals

There was a specific rule implemented for this round: Your characters must fight shrunken down, this resulted in a rather unorthodox ending to the fight.

I also decided to go back with using custom sprites, but this time I went with the Secret of Mana styled ones, which let me be a bit more creative with the combat; though a bit one sided.

I think my opponent was a demi-god of some sort, and well... Sir Yallow is just a not-so-clever knight who happens to be invincible.

*for the sake of time, I'm just going to reveiw the whole series so far.*
You definately have great comical taste, the jokes and references always make me laugh.
The animation is surprisingly good, and done in a week at a time none the less. The drawings are actually pretty good and your sprites are done well. Not to mention your use of EPIC rpg music and sound effects (which somehow manage to escape most artists) . Then there's Sir Yallow, the lovable oaf, he's definately hilarious and even if his design isn't anything special, his character is quite special (how often do we see such a dolt take on and defeat so many cliche characters).

Now that the reveiw is out of the way. I'm interested in what you submitted for round one, and if it was a flash why didn't you upload it? (then again maybe you did ....) And when you're done uploading this tourney, would you consider, maybe doing something similar with some characters made by your fans?

RahnAetas responds:

Round 1 was actually just a hand drawn comic. After that first submission I decided if I was to have any chance at winning the tournament I'd have to do something different, as my ability to draw and compose a comic was far behind everyone else.

I suppose I should upload that image to give a sense of consistency to the series.

This is a very good, very funny piece of flash animation. It has a nice quirky story, decent characters and good dialogue. The animation was very smooth and the ending really cracked me up. The only thing I could see that needed any improvement was the impact sounds; I felt they were really lacking and rather dull. Other than that this is really great.

good animation, amazing music. however poor dialouge at best.

Good dialogue, snappy patter, and a twist ending. Made me laugh. Nice job.
