UPDATE: Uuuuh, front page?? Thanks a ton. :] And thanks for all the votes and reviews and advice. I've updated the movie with subtitles to make up for over processed audio garble.

My first newgrounds entry ever, as well as my first animation in years. It was made in part to get myself playing around with Flash again. It was also so I could get some sort of little intro for this story I've been working on, but have no intentions of animating(if it were, the style would be way different. Frame by frame awesomness that I'm not capable of now). Therefore this animations raises faaaar more questions than it answers. I worry that it won't stand too well on it's own because of that, but hey, twas a good exercise and stuff.

My apologies for the Frankenstein-esque mess that is the narration. I compiled all the clips in the most unorganized way ever, so in the end it turned into a hodgepodge of different volumes, voices, effects, and noise that was hard to fix after the fact. Blargle. Welp, lesson learned for next time.

So yep, I'm no animator(nor a voice actor, apparently), but it was fun to do. So will probably try some more stuff in the future...with less vibration inducing textures...and better audio.

An Excellent Foray back into Flash

I think you've got a good deal of talent and that this is a great springboard for a larger story. While it is true, that it wasn't full of frame-by-frame "awesomeness" as you put it, I still think it was very well done. The flash chose a style and stuck with it. The backgrounds were good, the characters even better. If each flash needs some kind of a thematic overtone, yours definitely achieved that. The audio was a bit problematic, which is really why I took 1 point away from the score. The good news is, you seem to be aware of how to improve the audio, which is definitely half the battle. In and of itself, the "raspy" and "garbled" effects to the narration didn't bother me, in fact it partially added to the sense of unease the flash created as a whole. The issue is balancing between effectively distorted audio and something that simply cannot be understood. I think this flash danced along that line a little too closely, but again, I still enjoyed it and there were really only a couple of moments I would say the audio was "bad." As another reviewer mentioned, if you wanted to, you could amend this flash with subtitles and really improve the overall quality. If you learn from your audio experience, I think you've got a great starting point, and I look forward to seeing where you go from here. I wouldn't worry too much about your animation style, I think it works, and it will hone itself and improve as you get back into the nitty-gritty of flash.

very good story! it was animated perfectly for the style, and the voice over had a eerie but gentle tone that i thought fit very well with the film
