I set out to make a short, slightly challenging, little low-fi platformer. It's very short (15 minutes at most), not all that challenging, and certainly low-fi.

If you do get stuck, you can press the K key on your keyboard to switch on Easy Mode. Once Easy Mode is turned on, it can't be turned off again.


This is my first game. It's not all that great and has plenty of issues, which is what I expected. I spent a total of two weeks on it, a few hours a day. Most of that time was trying to learn how to use StencylWorks. Since I'm not a programmer by any stretch of the imagination, StencylWorks was my best bet for getting anything done.

Admittedly, 90% of what I love about Just Another Day is the music, provided by Peter Gresser.

11-02-12: Medals and a Scoreboard? I've sold out... At least I didn't make the game easier. Changed the graphic for the "helper" blocks, because some people were offended. Compressed the music to make the filesize smaller, please listen to the original quality on Peter Gresser's page.
30-01-12: Made the fadein/out on death a little faster, and added a few more helper blocks.



I really love this.
Music is GORGEOUS.
gameplay is challenging, but not in a frustrating way.

you defly have potential, i think if you added some sort of light combat element to this style of gameplay, with these graphics, like maybe a blaster or a sword or something (or like.. i guess he's a cow, have him shoot milk xD) it would make the game almost cave story-esque

I really like the lack of dialogue. Words weigh things down too much, especially if theyre not written well.

it makes me want to go make something in stencylworks.

its a great game

you did an amazing job for your first game. the music is great, so thumbs up to peter. though, you could have been a slight bit more forgiving with the slopes. when you hit some of them, you can't jump off, you just slide right down. aside from that, its pretty hard to not wanna finish.

My idea for the ski-jump was a bit ambitious, considering my inexperience with Stencyl and how it handles physics. Sometimes Muu will 'bounce' down a slope, so when you jump it thinks you're not on the ground and so you slide into oblivion. In my next game I aim to avoid this kind of sillyness.

Quite invigorating, if a little frustrating.

I would have to say that overall, this game is quite awesome. I liked the music, the story was portrayed well through what little cutscene you had (good job on keeping them to a minimum, by the way), and while the timing for jumps was sometimes insanely precise, it didn't make me feel like it was made artificially hard.

That being said, I ran through the game on Easy mode second, seeing where the problem areas were mitigated. The only reason this gets 9/10 is because you cannot turn off the Easy mode in game.

Amazing game with a splendid soundtrack, but...

Most of the jumps are pixel-perfect, making them incredibly difficult and frustrating get past. The jump right after Muu's alien girl is taken is IMPOSSIBLE, (the one with a jump to a small slope, and then a four block distance jump to another small slope) so that's where I stopped.

I'm glad you liked it. I can vouch that every jump is quite possible, though as RedApeGuy highlighted, I really needed a tutorial to better explain the ski-jumping.

I'm surprised you didn't turn on Easy Mode though, instead of quitting.

I don't mean to be mean but the game sucks a little only one reason:
the jumping sucks i can't even pass the wasteland stage cause of the jumping
but the music it if AWESOME
i would give it 5 stars but the problem with jumping - .5
keep it up man

There is an element to the jumping that I realized not many people get, is that if you 'jump in' on a downward slope and then jump once you hit it, it 'flings' you forward - the ski-jump. If you did not know about that, it might explain why some jumps seemed impossible.
