A distress call wakes you and your crew mate from C-Sleep. A suspected rad leak at the nearby Outpost space station needs investigating. Don't worry, it should just be a quick jump in, jump out job...

- Level 3 made easier. Also forcefield is triggered during vulnerable sections of the level.

Just a note on the quality settings, its already running in low quality, hence the lack of in-game option for it.


A few tweaks and ideas maybe...

I can see that a few movies contibuted to this. Alien, Event Horizon and the likes of dead space as well. It's not everyday you get a solid sci fi horror game. But of course there are a few tweaks. Being able to enlarge the screen would stop some eye strain but also allow us to see the detail that went into the game. Having a cinematic or maybe the first alien erupting from a station crew member as a way of introducing us to the alien. Moments of calm with random steam jets, movement, and dark areas that require the torch like in the first level. A bit more radio chatter between Lee and Jameson and maybe a few combat quotes. Maybe some graffiti of this owlman cult and the areas like the morgue looking abit like a morgue, the berths looking like berths. Also some more bosses as well. But I believe the story could be tightened up as I got dribs and drabs of the story as it ranged from usal drugdery on the station to releasing the radiation to the emergence of the owl man cult. It was all over the place and it was hard to follow the story and it threw up some questions as; Where did the Owlman cult sping up from? How were the EBE's found? What is the importance of Strix? What happened to the the owlman cult? How did the station break down? What happened to all the other transformed owlman cultists? Those are just some. An option to wipe your stats and start afresh would be welcomed as well as well as maybe a few different enemies to mix up the lineup. OK thats that out of the way, now I have praise now. The controls are responsive and the combat is tight. The ammo, while constrictive isn't limting. The blood on the outer edges is a good visual indicator to warn you of low health. The voices over the radio are clear. The snow while rarely used was a good plot mechanic and having panic sections helped to ramp up the tension. The shop and pause interface was detailed and the sounds fitted perfectly. The gun sounds were crisp and clear and fitted the weapon used. The occasionly angel halo effect from the torch added to the atmosphere. having the options to swap out gear on your gun also helped to open up the possiblities. I look forward to jamesons story to finish this all up. But if anything, I would likje to see a tighter story with a bit more explanation or maybe more logs to fill in the details. Hope this helps.

Excellent review, thank you.
The story is deliberately ambiguous as we want the player to fill in the gaps themselves, and I'm not a lover of everything being spelt out.
Also it suited us in terms of the sequel, we didn't want to back ourselves into too much of a corner. We'll be going into more depth with the whole Owlmen cult, as thats a part of the story we only lightly touched on.
I did write some story notes up on my NG blog thing, and hopefully I'll do a more detailed write up on our blog next week sometime.
Thanks again, its such a buzz reading thoughtful comments on our little game, that never wears thin :)

Help for anyone having trouble.

Honestly, I'm not even done with the game. But the best thing to do to survive is to check your radar frequently, and to shoot anything moving that's NOT HUMAN (Especially on level 3)!

Level 3 really is the motion tracker level, if you don't take advantage of that then it's going to be hard.


AS well as the sound effects and the visuals it was overall the best game I ever played this year. And the free movie helps too though it did kinda suck

It's a good game, I beat it on normal. Few things:
1. I'm a little upset that my net was disconnected at one point in the begining, and although I earned NG medals, they didn't take, and there is no way to "Re-claim" them. It would be nice if the "Challanges" page was set up to include achievements and later you could click them to obtain medals you've already earned but perhaps didn't take.

2. Another issue I have is that sometimes, the game would lag and my character would perform an action much too long, This translates to me changing my angle of aim to down a mob, for example with seconds of delay. This got me killed a few times.

3. The weapons as well as the weapon system were a huge let down. The minigun kinda... well... sucked. It wasn't that hard to obtain it, and it wasn't at all worth the effort. It seems to me that the standard weapon (Assult riffle) was just fine the whole game. If anything, I'd say the smg (Second weapon) was the best in game weapon, and it was only slightly better than the assult riffle. The only point I see in even buying any other weapon is as a back up plan in case you run out of ammo, which is so plentiful anyway that it's hardly an issue. The whole game I ran out of ammo one time with the assult riffle, and I simply switched to the smg for roughly 3 rooms until I found more. I admit, I did use the rpg on the two bosses on the final stage, but even then, it was very annoying to switch back and forth between that and the smg EVERY shot to down any mini mobs that got past the blast radius, and there was always at least one every time.

The game all in all was fun, but to re-cap I am a little butt hurt I wasn't awarded with the medals I've earned. The lag issue is frustrating, and buying weapons is near pointless since the assult riffle and the smg (The first one you can buy) are pretty much the best pair anyway.

I don't think the game is "Too hard" as others may have said. I played it on normal and yes I lost a life or two but never all of them. I think that's as it should be. It's a little frustrating when you hack the turrets and they sometimes hit you trying to fire at an enemy, and those small mobs seem to be too fast for the turrets if you move as well, and sometimes it seems the AI has troubles getting through doorways, but the AI doesn't seem to terrible. In fact, it's a lot better than similar flash games in this style. It's a good game, just add a set of buttons so players can re-claim medals that didn't take, and perhaps tweak the gun system, maybe even add more weapons (Hopefully the final one can be better than the minigun which is a huge dissapointment) and this could be a great game.
