Here is its eulogy, a collection of the kind words written about it while still among the living. They shall live on forever in its place.

EDIT: Wow, thanks for the daily second! I wasn't expecting much from this submission, considering I made it in only two and a half hours or so. I'd like to thank my friends for voting for me, without them I wouldn't have received the award. Thanks again!

I made this clone of the classic Atari Breakout game in TGF2. I hope it's enjoyable. Please be patient while waiting for it to load, as the filesize is large.

I don't even know where I was going with this. I started out earlier today finally going through the tutorial of TGF2 after I saw TomFulp posted a notice about a winter contest for it. This isn't my winter contest entry, but moreso myself just learning how to use the program and doing basic tasks. I'm not sure how I got the whole Parthenon idea either, but whatever.

I'd like to thank Ockeroid and pyroguy-37 for making their music available for my use by having it in the audio portal, I was stumped for a while on which tracks to choose.

The main menu image is a picture taken of the Parthenon in Greece, the gameplay background is a sketch of the Parthenon from mlahanas.de, and the high scores background is a picture of the Parthenon replica in Tennessee. The pillars used in the gameplay as borders are from shutterstock.com. I do not claim to own any of these images and give credit to their respective owners. All other graphics and images were drawn by me. The "DUN DUN DUN" sound upon viewing the high scores menu is titled Shock and Horror by Dick Walter from Ren And Stimpy Production Music Vol. 2. Thank you.

Reviews

I liked this little flash game. It's fast twitchy gameplay meant it wasn't a quick bore and the parthenon theme worked pretty nicely. You also used that damn sound effect in the highscore board that I love.

While I do like the concept, the speed of the ball is WAY too fast. I had a really hard time following it around the screen and that very quickly caused my death. Maybe start the ball out a bit slower? Other than that, it's a pretty well-thought out game. I do love Breakout.

I don't understand

I see most people never used games factory ... this is just a modification of a demo tutorial game that comes included ... I don't want to insult you or anything, but you could have made a bigger effort

<deleted> responds:

It wasn't just a modification, I redid the entire thing and added all of my own graphics, and graphics not of my own have listed sources. Nothing from the tutorial was reused, and perhaps you should try a similar feat and see how long it takes you before criticizing others and offering no suggestions for improvement.

WWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWW

if i WANTED to go play this game, i would go to the offline games and play it, IT'S BETTER THERE!!!!

<deleted> responds:

Oh gee, thank you for such a well thought out review full of constructive criticism to better my work. Try making your own games before criticizing others.

Formal, yet refined!

A simple game that might not have been extremely original but was still quite enjoyable; the Greek theme added a nice touch, too.
Without much level differentiation, the game seems to be missing something. The main theme gets repetitive after a little while, too; maybe try adding more to the soundtrack?

<deleted> responds:

Thanks, and I figured having audio in every frame was enough... :P
