Huoli Arcade

I wanted to create a classic arcade shooter from scratch to start off my new brand, Brooklyn CodeBits. Huoli is Mandarin Chinese for "Firepower" - I figured that would be cool to add to give it a little unique touch. It's all in good fun, and I hope everyone enjoys and feels the love that went into this little guy.

Note - this version (a recent change) uses the keyboard for control rather than the mouse. Arrow keys move, Z fires. P pauses, as usual.

I really enjoy this

Its not one of those faggoty new games that annoy me, its fun and simple, i voted 5 on this when it was under judgement, i favourated it and came back to play, also, to give it another 5 ;) . nice work man

Original Fun!

You sir have impressed me very much with your take on a arcade shooter game.

I loved how fast-paced it was, the game felt truly addicting to play and I loved every bit of it.

If I were to suggest a few ideas, I would like to experience a bonus stage every now and then, and maybe gain little bonuses for being accurate and fast when it comes to destroying enemy ships.

I hope to see more great work such as this, and you've definitely made a shoot-em-up fan person like myself proud.

Man, you really made my day with this. Thanks!

Cool Shooter!

The enemy behaviour reminds me of Galaga.
The enemies suddenly appearing from the middle of the screen definitely made it more hectic, but it threw me off at the start, and makes the whole top half of the screen unnecessary space (except for 'Wave Complete' text), and makes the cool background particle effects more distracting than anything.
Also some background music would be cool.
That being said, this is a Brilliant first game! Keep up the good work!

Yeah, I feel the BG music thing. I wanted to keep the size very small though. Next game will have some nice tunes. That being said, this isn't actually my first game - just my first game on this brand (and in Flash as well). There is also a native code version (aka Downloadable) for Windows & Mac on the site. It doesn't have BG music, but BG sounds.

Also, the top screen is for a retro-forward scrolling effect. Some like it, some don't, can't win em all. I personally love Gyruss, so I wanted to put something forward scrolling in there.

I'm glad you like the game though!
