TOME - Episode 01 - You've Gotta Virus

It's the year 2020, where the most popular virtual reality gaming experience, "TOME" is played by millions around the globe. A young player who goes by the username "Alpha" logs in for a good time, but gets more than he bargained for. While his friends are busy trying to stop a couple of rambunctious hackers disrupting their playtime, Alpha is visited by a strange, ethereal being that speaks directly to his thoughts...though it may appear dangerous, it might just be the key to stopping the hacker threat and allow Alpha to help his friends in need.

Created by Chris "Kirbopher" Niosi, with music by Weston "Kajetokun" Durant, featuring the voices of Blake "ShadyVox" Swift and Martin "LittleKuriboh" Billany. Join the adventure in the Terrain of Magical Expertise!

UPDATE: Now includes a scene select and a clickable easter egg!

So... Reboot?

I liked the old series. Though it ended when you wrote yourself into a Kingdom Hearts ripoff corner... Anddddddddd then ignored it forever. Denied it even. But sweet, love this knew one too. Even though this one opens in a ripoff/homage to Summer wars, which in itself is a ripoff of Our War Game.

Love this though. Might even try to rewatch the old one, even though its kinda slow...

No ones going to read this so why am I typing?

My mind exploded from sheer awesomeness. Keep em coming. Been a long time since a series showed up that I REALLY like. Much less one that is handdrawn. Perfect mix of action and humor.

I Foresee a Great Series...

I've gotta hand it to everyone involved in this project: This turned out much better than I would have expected it to be. TOME made me want to go and play an MMO again from how well it was written. It's full of characters we love, hate, and expect from an MMO world and it's written with a fresh, original context that made me anticipated for more.

Bravo for a ton of things. The animations are crisp, flow, and are visually appealing. Watching a battles commence turns out to be a treat. The drawings look like they came straight out of an action MMO as well, kudos for that!

The story, so far, is leaving enough for me to want to watch more. I'm intrigued on the idea of using a virus to fight hackers online. It's interesting to note the characters. There's a lot of relationships up in the air to question. Are these two characters friendly rivals? Are these two love interests? Plus, the idea of having the main character go from a shy, happy-go-lucky personality to a badass (with a proper reason) was well done.

Good work on the voice acting as well. It caught the essence of what each character was suppose to hold. In personal tastes, I'm digging the villain's voices and characters. Their bonkers dialogue cracks me up. Not to say the rest were bad. In fact, I like how it's not taking itself so seriously (unless intentionally so) and keeps to the idea that it's inside a social MMO. So some are going to sound ridiculous or sane.

Again, I am very impressed with the first episode. I will definitely keep my eye out on this series because I see it becoming a very big thing on this site.

holy shit

way to create something incredible... now, if only TOME existed in real life

Very nice.

I hear some people complaining about the animation seeming done over several times, and that things felt "rushed" and their opinions are theirs and I have no problem with that, but I don't get the idea of feeling rushed or underdeveloped, or recycled, etc. I've never seen TTA (mostly due to quantity), but I can say as someone seeing this from a totally fresh perspective, it was VERY nice to watch. The characters are fairly interesting in design and personality, the animation is clean, the voice acting and other audio is great quality, and the story has me appealed. I honestly can't find a single complaint about it myself; I initially felt like giving it a 9 in the review but then stopped and wondered why, and realized I had no reasoning. I honestly can't wait for more in the series, and if this can be produced on a monthly basis (which I'm hearing in a few different places, though I may be wrong) that'd be pretty damn fast production time.

Overall, 10/10 5/5
