For this game, I expected a lot more being that it's Jazza and all. The voice acting at the beginning just about KILLED it for me. That was some pretty bad writing. The "saying/catch phrase" thing at the start made me cringe. But then once I got in the game, everything went pretty well. With a few flaws. Well, many.
The controls are pretty solid. The building menu process reminded me a bit of Ratchet and Clank. It was very similar in the selections, the strafing combat, and the simple "kill enemies, get experience to help kill more shit" gameplay. Except for the part where if you kill an enemy, YOU HAVE TO RUN OVER TO THE SCRAP TO GET IT. I became severely confused about 5 minutes into the game when I started to realize that I wasn't getting any scrap. Then I noticed all the little silver speckles and groaned to myself. Why in gods name would you force the player to run directly into enemy fire to simply collect experience points that should just be HANDED to you in the first place? Some could call this an extra challenge, but I find it grating. Also, The emphasis on building better machinery when he cannot even build himself a better gun than a little pea-shooter pistol baffles me.
And then I stopped playing after about 10 minutes.
