I have to say that this is one of the best Noir comics I have read. The art was fantastic, the writing was exceptionally well-written, and the story I felt was very fluid and immersible. I really connected with the characters and I enjoyed Maple's tragic story. I cannot believe it has taken me this long to find this work. Thank you.

After six months in the making my followup to "Cooljaw: Dreaming Darkly" is complete...
Just in time for October!
I uploaded this a while back, but people told me the font was super hard to read, so I spent several hours manually changing it, and here we are...
The Sugar Claws is the story about a 15 year old girl dealing with serious problems at home, who makes a bargain with something that goes snicker snack...
This special edition comes with the following:
- All 5 prior comics released to the portal.
- The premier of the remaining three comics.
- An animated intro and outro.
- A shitty introduction by me!
- The Zapfino text within the comic chapters has been changed to something more legible.

And once again, you've caused me to have sympathy for something I never expected to have sympathy for. I enjoy that, actually. Your stories turning around our concept of what is usually 'good' and showing that the true monsters tend to wear 'normal' human faces, where as the steriotypical 'bad guys' turn out to be..well, not 'good guys' but not nearly as bad as we expected.
Such powerful immagery, dealing with problems that happen in everyday life.
I have one issue though, at the end when they're talking about how all things have to end...I dunno, it seems a wee bit drawn out. I mean, I like it, but it seems rather textful, however I really don't know how you could've made it better. It's just my instincts sayin' it's a little wordy and drawn out when the rest of the comic is full of imagery to go with the words. Doesn't 'flow' right.
Other then that it's gold.

The ending on this one was a tough call to make...
I knew how I wanted to end it narratively speaking, but I wasn't sure how to go about it in terms of the execution, in retrospect it was a bit wordy; but overall I'm happy with the end result.

Not as good as Cooljaws
Comparatively, you outdone yourself with Cooljaws. But this one has no more than a quarter of cooljaws greatness. It's definitely unique, music is proper and the drawings are top notch.
Main problem is the story. You opt to tell instead of show. You told in several lines who, what, from where of the sugarclaws, instead of showing us what you're trying to tell. Then the monster dies but I can't feel any empathy when there's very little-meaningful interaction between the heroin and sugarclaws. You didn't expand your characters either? What about the history between the black kid and the heroin? How was the father before the wife dead and him being so screwed up? How did the heroin chanced upon the sugarclaws? Why did she bother to feed the sugarclaws?
I'm still confused as to why the girl throws up her food (ritual?). And the meaning behind the title, sugar claws...Is feels like- just a tittle, as opposed to your collin -> cooljaws.

The characters aren't as important to the premise of the story as they were in "Cooljaw: Dreaming Darkly", because the story isn't about the nature of violence, rather societal and individual neglect and aversion towards it.
Cooljaw's characters were fleshed out because their backgrounds were integral to establishing the reasons why violence may occur, that wasn't something I wanted to deal with again this time around. The issue I wanted to deal with this time is why is it so difficult to prevent violence.
I agree it would have been nice to have been able to flesh the characters out a bit more, but I think I got my message across.
