An homage to a classic
I'm giving this one extremely high marks, as I feel the execution was nearly flawless. I imagine that most people are going to see the Madness tribute, but underneath the skin this is an homage to and/or remake of Spy Hunter II, the little known "3-D" sequel to the classic top-down arcade shooter Spy Hunter.
I would argue though that you've got better gameplay here than they did (admittedly through the lens of a decade or two more game development to look at). The graphics are simple but fun, and the sound works well, doesn't get annoying, etc.
I do like what some of the others have said, about progressing through the game feeling more "meaningful." Maybe simply adding more power-ups? Or perhaps upgrading the basic pistol a little bit each level?
I loved the truck and how it changes a bit each time you meet it. Classy. :)
there's a bug... why do I find these...
On the 2nd wave, after I destroyed the truck, the completion wave message came up, and it never went to the next level...
I've now travelled 100 miles and counting... if I stay at this pace, driving about 1 mile every 4 seconds:
60 seconds = 15 miles
1 hour = 900 miles
24 hours = 21,600 miles
1 year = 7,884,000 miles
12,748 years = 99,999,999,999 miles.
I know I can do it if I wait long enough.
Hey Actionsquid, you make a good point but...
I really think The-Swain has had little experience with driving shooters so you're helping him more than you think, I still agree with you.
