This one is best with your volume up. The words to the narration are below:

My dear father died in a faraway war
Left Mother and I quite without hope
We used our last pennies to leave our fine city
And away to a house on a farm.
And on this farm, on the thorniest edge
Stood an ash tree as old as the earth
With branches so gnarled and twisted and black
That my every bone cried out to climb
"But no! Oh no!" said our funny old neighbor
Wringing her hands like two rags
"Don't you go near it, young Miss Eliza
For her roots are bad all the way down."
I thought it silly but did as she told
Until Mother went missing one eve
So sad had she been that I feared the worst
And went down to the old ash tree
And now here I stand but here there is nothing
Naught but a flowering weed
But the breeze, I could swear, carries upon it
The scent of my mother's perfume
Yes, the wind, I declare, does carry upon it
The scent of my mother's perfume

Well done.

Unique story told in a wonderful way. I personally love the whispering, it adds an ominous presence to this short. Your use of black and whites along with the rough shadings adds an even more uneasy feel. All around it is well told and I really enjoyed this.

Absolutely stunning!

As a HUGE horror fan, I've been waiting for something to raise the goosebumps for quite awhile now, and this submission succeeded in doing so. The voicework is nothing short of haunting (loved the fact it was whispered), and the animation captured a sort of fairytale/gothic atmosphere straight out of a Hammer Studios film.

You've just earned a fan for life with this piece. Now I'm off to check out the website, and your other submissions. Keep up the excellent work!

Truly Amazing

This is one of the best peices i've viewed on here, is the wording original. The movies compliments the poem so well the art work is good and holds it's own against the well spun words.

Nice story, bad narration

The art and the story being told were interesting and pretty good, but the narration is on the poor side. A majority of the issue was the whisper. It would have been great if you had told it in a voice befitting a lost child, instead of kids trying to tell ghost stories without being caught up late.

Almost perfect

Almost. If not for the voice acting, I don't know if that was you but, it sounded like a digital reader voice. Just too heavily processed or something. I know it was supposed to sound all ghosty and whispery, but it just came out kind of too fast and silly. Other than that it was amazing though
