I did this animation two years ago more or less. I hope that you like it.

P.D Thanks for the Daily 3rd Place! I really appreciate it.

I really felt the emotion in it. It was SO good!

Rated 5 / 5 stars

If this is where your skills were at two years ago, I HAVE to see where you're at now. Your sense of art direction is amazing, and your work gave me a SAD face, but in a good way. Great job.

Rated 4.5 / 5 stars

Fluid, and interesting

Good display of emotion without words, while the music had an ominous forbearing sound to it so you knew something was going to go wrong.
Interesting choice of color display it summed up the character without having to put multiple colors and shades in to describe him.
The parents display was also impacting all though unfortunately it puts the real life aspect into a whole. Considering how so many parents are like that.

Great Job

I love it, the style and the lack of dialogue. It adds to the style and the atmosphere. It makes you wonder what they are saying and you make up your own dialogue. Though I do have one complaint, Mind you this is my own opinion and I may be wrong, but I think the "father's" reaction was really, over the top, harsh, and cruel. But I may have missed the message. Thank you for this great piece of art. :)

Rated 5 / 5 stars

love the no talking animation style, and the music was perfect for the feel of the whole thing. Good job. Now for a tear jerking sequel. . .

Rated 4 / 5 stars

Very touching!

Great Job! I do wish there was a little more with the reason the parents were so upset, but the message was still very clear.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Ces manifique!

The colors, the animation, the story-all BRILLIANT! I can't wait to see more!

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Another newcomer with something excellent!

This was indeed quite touching.

Animation: You did a great job on the drawings, animation, and color selection. Plus, I liked the anime-esque style although not everyone will like it.
Sound: Clever use of Kevin Macleod's music and the non-use of sound effects. One of those instances where anything else will make things worse instead of better.
Content: While I have no problem with parodies/skits on this site, most of the time they are nothing more than uninspired, copy/paste shit. It's nice to see something that does something different. However, it has to be good in order to be worthwhile, and this was. The direction and story were excellent and set a melancholic mood to this piece. However, next time I suggest that you use a preloader if you haven't already.

The good:
-Great art and animation
-Well-written and directed
-Nice music

The bad:
-Seems to have no preloader, but that won't hurt your score.

Overall: For a first submission that's over two years old, here's a ten from me.

So sad! My life was more or less like that but with supportive parents. Yeah sure they would get mad when Id rather be drawing in class, but they never wanted me to stop and only nurtured it to get better. So I guess this is the Bizzaro version of my life story!

That aside, I LOVE what you did with the gradients and the line quality! The animation was smooth as well. Have you made anything else within the two years of you posting this? Because I'm only hoping you got even better! Good job, and if this is a true story, never let anything get in the way of talent and passion!

Rated 5 / 5 stars

this is what happens when everyone around you is an supportive ass. You go missing when you enter the one drawing you left on the wall and get stuck there forever.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

I don't usually post, but this animation was beautiful. The simplicity was perfect, and the movement was elegant, and precise.

I find myself at a loss for more words, so all I can really say is that I'm looking forward to anything else you have.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Very nice.

Why do we draw? Is it to provide an escape to a world other than the one we live in? Certainly seems so, and this is a clear example as to why. Sometimes, this world is inhospitable.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

If this was done two years ago, it's LOVE to see what you can do now!

Made me sad, though...

Rated 5 / 5 stars

when i was younger something similar happened to me. I was drawing "violent things" (i play video games and watched movies!!!!!!) so my teachers were concerned and had a meeting with my parents. They were on my side and didn't punish me at all.

I didn't believe the dad in here would over react this way! If you want me to believe he needs more credibility why he'd snap like that in the first place. Let's say he was reluctant to let the son draw in the first place. Then it would make more sense why he "over reacts" that way.

Anyway cool job, keep going

Rated 5 / 5 stars

I can relate. Nice work.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

That was extremely emotional and powerful! I can relate. Mum, never wanted me to pursue the guitar like I have. Though she's the one who enabled my learning! Bitter irony. Similar to what you've portrayed here. The music matched wonderfully! Cheers!

Rated 5 / 5 stars

nice work!

how long did it take you to make such a cool work?

Rated 5 / 5 stars

it...its words discibe it to me

it was amazing....i loved it.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

This was very beautiful and heart touching, very deep...

It reminded me a lot of of myself when I was younger and my mom used to slap the bejesus out of me everytime I drew in my notebokes...

Yes, parents and teachers kill creativity

Anyway, this was great, animation was fluid and very well made...
Keep it up!! :D

Rated 4 / 5 stars

God damn....

What a fucking weaboo faggot.

Rated 4.5 / 5 stars

Very Touching...

I Loved this sooo much.
I got kindve a twisted message from it.
But I like the message I got.
I hate how our world is changing and there's very little demand for art or poetry no a days.
Like the only art that's truly appreciated is that in movies and video games it's pretty sad

Rated 5 / 5 stars

at class...

Our teacher never minds if we draw, she just wants us to be quiet.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

reminds me...

Its very touching, a lesson we should learn.

when i drawed in class.. I was like that. =(

He reminds me of me.

Im kinda like him..

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Addd to favourites.

Without hesitation.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

that was just amazing i can barely describe how awesome this was i almost cried during this, you my good sir are an amzing animator.

oh and did anyone else notice that the picture the boy went into was in the trash can at the end of the animation.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

been done before

this is great

i have seen this story line in a
tv show i used to watch when i went to school

it was about a kid who drew on his wall but Not on paper

and he went into the picture
and his parents washed it off after oblivious to him being inside

Gruesome tales for kids or something i think it was on citv

all though basically every idea has been done in some way or other

i am not implying you stole the idea

but other than that i love the animation

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Amazing job dude.

Story of my life.

Minus going into a drawing.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

and never to be seen again traped in his own dream

world ( no more room to finish sentance) but at keast he is not happy

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Now that some great animation!!!!!!!!!!!!
Although the storyline was kinda depressing.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

defnitly perfect if ya did this two years ago then DAAAAAAANG your skilled lol 10/10 and i think or ut of a fan's perspective i think ya should make some mre flashes like this one.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Well expressed...

The story was well executed and the body language was spot on. You could almost feel the excitement of the young boy while he was drawing to his heart's content.

However, the father's anger was a tad too dramatised and (let's face it) the mother was ridiculously useless... to the point of being unrealistic: a puppet, a doll, a robot.

Anyway, even if the clash between son and parent (the "this is not the future I have in mind for you, son"-issue) has been simplified a bit, you still managed to convey the message very well.

Keep it up and wish you the best.

Did the kid die? Anways THIS IS AWESOME. U are a good anime drawer, keep up the awesome work

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Very cool

This is autobiographical, right?

Rated 5 / 5 stars relatable

Excellent capturing of the child's viewpoint, may peace be with you.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

If this was fucking my child i would tell him hell you got talent boy, i'd hire him a drawing teacher just so he'll be happy, its rare seeing people with true talent or really admire doing things i swear to god i'll soo much of a better parent then those in the video, i myself draw a tad bit and i'm impressed from your drawings ! god rated 5, it touched me heavly and deep.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

This runs deep with me. I can totally relate to how the character is going through and how the character feels. I love to draw, I love art in general; but my friends and family have always told me that it's a waste of time and wouldn't get me anywhere. Sometimes I wish I could just jump into my drawings like that to escape all their negativity.

Anyways, you've really captured my attention and I applaud you. You're very talented :)

Rated 5 / 5 stars

is awesome, i love the anime style art

Rated 5 / 5 stars

absolutly loved it.

i could hear every voice in my head as if i was there.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

thats what u get!!!

that was u get for screwing around with ur children!!!
btw great video

Rated 5 / 5 stars

This literally brought tears to my eyes. Even though I don't draw as much as I used to (it's more of an on-and-off hobby nowadays), I can totally relate to it from not only a visual perspective, but from a performing and composing perspective as well. Sometimes, people don't appreciate all the creative energy I put into my works, and it just puts me down for a short time. However, I just pick myself up and keep at it, and if there is even one, single person who likes what I do and encourages me to keep doing it, then I can consider myself satisfied.

I love the animation and the style you used to portray this idea. The "no talking" style is great, and the music perfectly portrayed this mood. I have no qualms about it whatsoever. Don't stop doing what you love, dude. 5/5, 10/10

Rated 5 / 5 stars

this happened to me

fucking dads

but the dads no everytime disapoy his sons

Rated 5 / 5 stars

slightly repetitive

my review u culd say is a repeat but i agree with a few others id seen in th reviews. i can easily make a personal relation to this flash. i love art but even teachers hav told me that even though im good itll never get me anywhere and that im wasting time with it. without there being voices its easier to pick up the emotion in this flash and the anime type style u used seemed to make movements more fluid. keep up the good work, i hope to see more form you
5/5 10/10

Rated 5 / 5 stars

this is sad

but it's a very good video, well drawn, moody and when you see it sometimes you could feel like that child! :-(

Rated 5 / 5 stars

absolutely good.

i love the story and the drawings and its so touching without having any voice acting like some i've seen before which ruined the thing. but this is absolutly brillant.
u deserve to be recognized more!

Rated 5 / 5 stars

these boobs may cheer you up after watching such a sad video (.)(.)

Rated 4.5 / 5 stars

Pretty cool, but...

Good art, good story, and a relateable premise though not for the art aspect, for the rejection aspect. Everyone wants to be accepted, and people can't accept the kid for whatever reason (In this case, drawing).

But I fucking lost it at the 'Take On Me' hand.

Minus one point.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Beautifully done. I am in love with it <3

Rated 5 / 5 stars

I'm going off to cry now, bc this has happened to me. I try drawing every once in awhile, and it puts me in deprression, so it's hard for me to better myself like I really want in my soul :(

Rated 5 / 5 stars

i love the story, how rejection of a talent can affect a child and how it caused him to go to into a "new level" of imagination. really good. 10/10 5/5

Great story, deserves 1st place if not more.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Simply Beautiful

It was amazing, outstanding. I loved the animation, and the music.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

very great

the detail the form and the style is just great. i hope to see more of your work in the future.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Well, that's some of the best animations I've ever seen in a while around here.
It's very touching, the movement of the characters it's pretty well done.
It has cool touches, like the way you implement the colors in it really fits very well, doing every character of a whole different color and making it lighter at the top and darker at the bottom. Also the fact that the only visible eyes are from the kid and his drawings, thats pretty good.
Also the way the tears are made, it's terrific, really good, fluid movement.
And the music its so spot on, really gorgeous T-T. So sad, so fit-in, relaxed, simple, the kind of music that´s not too hard to make something "visual" fit into it with great results.
I'm glad I could get at least some crappy speaker for the CPU, otherwise I wouldn't get the chance to see this video from all its angles.
I believe you do a very well done job. Thanks for the animation, and keep it up, always up.

Rated 4.5 / 5 stars

I have mentioned before that I thought that this should've gotten a higher score, and I'm glad it's growing in popularity.

Anyway, the story is really great. I like the kid's struggle whether to unleash his potential as an artist or give up to his unsupportive parents; it's very well put together. The frame by frame animation was also really impressive, especially for someone's first submission here. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if it was nominated for a Tank Award.

I've seen a lot of potential from you today. Please keep doing what you're doing, because I can see you doing great flashes in the future.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Very emotional

Anyone that gives this animation anything less than the maximum score is a critical, apathetic fool. This was an amazing animation. Definitely one of my favorites. Excellent work :)

Rated 5 / 5 stars

This is truly amazing

I am very serious when I say that. This little animation touched my heart in one certain spot. It makes me feel sad but I'm also happy that the boy is now somewhere he can no longer be harmed by the terror of reality. I wish I can animate like you one day and I've decided that I'll keep doing the best I can with drawing. Thank you. C:

Rated 5 / 5 stars

I really enjoyed this. Good work with the art and consistency. Sound effects would have been good as well.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

so sad

It touched my heart it's sad just like how i was in kindergarten no friends but couldn't make the most of my talent

Rated 5 / 5 stars

This futhers my hate for teachers i would love if i had a child with that much artistic talent i would of told that teacher that he is good at drawing and that you should of appriciate it

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Simply amazing

In so many ways.. I thought I'd write a good ol' long review but this just left me speechless. Every single detail from character design, animation, story and music are just perfect! I think this has touched just about everyone who has seen it, and we are all hoping to see more of your work :)

Rated 5 / 5 stars

It was just amazing! The animation was so smooth and I loved the story and the ending was so sad but happy at the same time :)

This beautiful animation makes me cry every time I see it. Very nice work. Maybe one day, I can make something as equally as wonderful and touching as this. ^^

Rated 5 / 5 stars

dame i wish i could draw :(

Rated 5 / 5 stars

beautiful flash. I love the way you wrote it out, from being supportive, and actually helping him to do it, to going after him later for doing the very same thing years later. The way you drew the characters was expressive but simple, and really added to the whole thing.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

makes me angry

It would really suck to have parents like that, yet it would be awesome if you could live with your imagination to escape your troubles. Great ending. Depressive, but touching and great.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

very heartwarming

man i love the art in this i hate how cruel his parents are i hope you make more stuff like this it makes me cry to think of the sad life he had

Rated 5 / 5 stars

i don't want to comment on this. watch the video please. it will be good for your soul...

Rated 5 / 5 stars

I mean absolutely stunning. Your animation is so smooth, and the style is just so wonderful. The storyline actually touched me and it hurt my heart a little, but I still appreciated it so very much. Truly fantastic.

Oh my god...

That... was.... BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!

Rated 3 / 5 stars

I remember seeing this on DeviantArt ages ago. It's really cool!

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Woah man!

That was cool, I haven't seen anything like that in a long time... the kid's kind of a bitch though. Jeez, just don't draw in class, it's not that hard. Plus, why did his dad rape his dreams of becoming an artist because of the one drawing he did in class? pretty messed up teacher, and parents am I right? It was exaggerated but pretty, believe me, I know who that boy is. ='C... great job all around. *sniff* *sniff*

Rated 5 / 5 stars

this is simply put amazing. very touching. good job

Rated 3.5 / 5 stars

Pretttyy goood animation and emotion. Excellent music. But I'm left to wonder if that person going into the drawing and disapearing, was that person going it that what you were trying to say? O_O!

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Oh now i feel sad.. )=

But seriously, i liked how you showed how much parents expect their kids to do well in their current society, so much that it blinds them about what beautiful in-front of them.
How anyone would react like that when they face rejection, by the person closest to them. And then run away into their own world of comfort.

Some things that i never did expect in this animation: The kid went into the drawing!!! And hes never coming back!!! D: WHY DID THE PARENTS THROW IT AWAY TOO!!! (RAGE) Its the last momento.... ;_;

Some things that i liked in this animation (again): The tears; it looked so realllll. And its not wrong to draw in class.. ;_;
I like how the kid brings up a drawing to appologize instead of simply saying it.
The whole animation, its just so realistic that it brings out the emotion.

PS: Albert Einstein once said "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."

Rated 5 / 5 stars

this ment alot to me..

in honest for some odd reason this short hit me in a odd light.
doodling in class, thinking nothing of homework nor class lost in a world mended by thought and lead as my youth. did nothing but stress my folks and cloud my peace of drawing...but every artist i think must deal with something like this...where it is or it is not what you define your self to be in the shun looks of others....or what it is the world you dream showen on paper and sung of ink.
well done my friend...something all artist deal with in some light...

Rated 5 / 5 stars

i just love the anime style of art amazing work keep up the good work i give it a 10 hands down

Rated 5 / 5 stars

The Spork Approves

I liked this. Far too often does talent go unappreciated. As someone more inclined toward the imaginary world than the real one, I understand the nameless little boy here. I loved the art, the music, everything. The Spork Approves. The only gripe I had here was that it could probably use a pause/play button, because I personally was really annoyed at having to rewatch the whole thing, however good it was when I had to get up and do something. But all in all, great job!

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Simply Beautiful

The music, the emotions, everything was spot on.

Even the graphics were simple and telling a story, really loved it

It's been long overdue because I've seen some great work in newgrounds, but this is the animation that finally made me create an account just to thank you for letting me be a part of this

Simply Beautiful.

Rated 4.5 / 5 stars

story of my life... it wasnt my parents that made me wanna stop drawing... but the endless teases i would get because thats all i did... High School ruined my best qualities and somehow i doubt ill ever get the feeling of self approval of my own art...

9/10 cuz it made me cry a lil... which in turn makes me feel like a total pansy (6 ft man crying over a cartoon... :P)

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Absolutely Beautiful

This was absolutely amazing. Great music and drawing style. It made the animation more deep and interesting, it's a perfect combination, beside the truth that you showed in this flash, it leaves you thinking. You really have my admiration. I hope you do more like this :P.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

...must say that this is really deep and it made me cry. Well animated too and music is touching.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

"Makes me think..."

I love to draw, and I feel that I have been in the same chair as this boy. I'm a day-dreamer. I always wanted to create instead of just listen. People look down upon that most of the time. I've seen it. I've been the person that people just seem to brush past in the hallways. People like me, but they never really talk to me. Back before this freshman year of collage, my high-school years were when people were talking to me. Before High-school though, I was alone. I pictured my drawings as the ideal friends for anyone. I guess that it was because I wished to have friends that understood me enough to stand by me. This actually related to myself when the picture reached out for the boy. It showed that that his drawings were always there. Either to cheer him up in his imagination, or just when he looks at them.

The rejection of others. This is why we artists prefer to stay in the crevices of our mind everyone. Some of you can relate to me. Others will call me crazy for saying what I did, but you cannot deny that at least once in your life... That if you hated someone for drawing... That you were envious of them. You wanted them to get worse, but that will not ever happen.

I also was dissappointed in the father as soon as he tore up the drawing of him, his wife, and his son. It was something to look down upon in many ways. Art is a way of expression. The second he did that... It was like saying that drawing was wrong. The father couldn't be more twisted to do that to his son. To belittle his talent.

I will end this here with these sentences.

"Should an artist be punished for his work? Is it any different from a construction worker building a house, or a chef baking a cake? What is it that makes it alright to belittle what you could never do?"

Rated 5 / 5 stars

I understand the nameless boy, my parents took away my joy for art as well. You did an amazing job keep up the good work.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Hits Home

I love how parents encourage their children to do something like drawing or other things. The child get good at it and enjoys it then parents call it a foolish obsession. " Look at him just sitting there drawing, playing guitar, tinkering on that motor." Why cant you be like that Smith boy down the road, he plays football". Ive heard it all before. Talent is only acceptable if it involves chasing a ball of some sort.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

I think that this really relates to my life. My parents don´t want me to make my life out of art, instead they want me to be something in politics or some other crap. Very good work.

P.: I did cry a little :(

Rated 3 / 5 stars

Well animated however....

....the story is kind of weak.

A little on the emo side.

HOWEVER, if using this level of animation for a better subject matter, I would regard it much higher.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Oh my...

That was really good. The animation style is very nice, the story is linear and easy to understand. Even better you can feel the emotions in every scene. The pride of drawing something amazing, the sorrow and rage after watching some of your best artwork get torn in front of you. I'm truly amazed by this actually. Almost made me cry too.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

This made me cry a bit.

I also really love drawing, i know how he felt. D:

Rated 5 / 5 stars

I agree with beemerk12lt im sure all of us have gone through what the lil dude in the animation went through I sure as hell cried a bit and ALOT of us can realate to this

Rated 5 / 5 stars

you just made me speachless and almost cry

Rated 5 / 5 stars

This gave me momories

Except when the teacher told my mom i used to draw so much on class my mom basically told the teacher "fuck you, let her draw and call me when you have something to tell me i give a shit" in nice words.

The animation is very smooth and i liked the concept n_n

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Oh my god...

I cried. Im still crying now. It made me cry cuz it makes me think of what im doing now. It makes me think mabe this will happen too...

I draw all the time, i dont even do my homework, not anything. I draw, draw, draw. My parents gave me paper and paint whewn i was 1 year old and i always loved to draw since then... I draw even in school, all the time, EVERYWHERE. Everyone near me at school tells me to stop cuz its forbidden, i ignore them. The teacher kept coming last year at my desk to tell me to stop drawing. My pearents yelled at me sometimes when they found drawings in my homework... I wanna hear it again and again, and i wont be scared to send it to everyone at school and to my parents, to show that i have the rights to continue my dreams. My parents think its useless, that it isent even a job and that i shoild find a true passion. You know what? Shut up, now.

The end.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

very well done

that was a work of art, i just loved watching this and not only listining to the story but also feeling the story and how the kid felt.

Rated 5 / 5 stars

it made me cry

it made think of a bunch of things in my life :,(

Rated 5 / 5 stars

I can relate to this cause it haponed with me, my parents got mad at me cause i drawed in class, ripped my drawing and i lost it.
I admit that i cryed, and im still crying

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Amazing this looks professional. The plot also fantastic!

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Guys stop making a fuss over it

enough with the ":( my mommy wont let me draw and i keep doing it" if you dont want to get your parents mad, do it in your free time or go to an art school. Dont be a moron and draw in class and cry when they ground you or whatever. btw vote as much negative as you want, you well know you look like a attention seeker

Rated 5 / 5 stars

dad is mean

he uh punk dat what he iz

idk... dad suddenly hated pictures when the teacher came maybe
i wonder what the boys dad said

Beautifully Done

I know exactly how this kid feels, went through a similar thing in my life, wasn't fun. :(

Cept, super hero me didn't reach out and offer me a way out. I had to just keep on living life, but most importantly keep on dreaming big and never stop being me :D

Rated 5 / 5 stars

Very Relatable

Regardless of the animation being about drawing, I believe a great deal of people can relate to something along the same lines as this. I have a story but I encourage you to skip past it if you don't give a rat's arse.

I remember one of my elementary school friends had an older sister who knew a lot about computer code since she had been studying it for a high school class and had helped me begin to understand the basics of how it worked because I saw her working on something and got very curious. She gladly obliged and began to teach me some *extremely* basic stuff about it all.

I was in Grade 6 at the time and while I was practicing typing a series of numbers to see if I remembered some of the things she taught me, I was scorned heavily by a teacher (who wasn't even one of MY teachers) who banned me from the computer lab during recess, lunch, before and after school for the first semester.

She didn't understand what I was doing and I wasn't even wasting class time since this had happened during lunch. She got angry with me for, and I quote, "bashing on the keyboard" when I was in fact doing very light strokes. She thought I only got so many lines of practice in because of suspected mashing and flew off the handle.

At the time, I was very confused about why she thought it was so bad. I tried explaining but she kept accusing me of interrupting her (she would cut in a few words after I began speaking and then say that). I couldn't help but burst into tears crying and then she kept yelling to get out and "quit blubbering like a little snot-nosed baby". Later on, I stopped getting practice and have never picked back up on it since. I have forgotten everything I was taught and regret it deeply.

I suffered for several years of schooling after the fact, even almost failed Grade 7 outright because I was too afraid to say anything when my teachers got stern about anything, whether or not it was justified. I couldn't concentrate because I would always imagine someone slamming their hand down on my desk and taking pot-shots at anything they could think of.

If it weren't for high school being extremely kind to me I probably would have fallen apart completely. Still, though. Hard not to be bitter after being able to reflect on all the crud I've dealt with in my life, be it that initial incident or anything after the fact.

I liked this animation and its amazing reminder that people like to assume what the situation is, come to one conclusion and one conclusion only, take no steps other than to scare others into submission and then wonder what went wrong.

Not everyone is lucky enough to escape the emotional pain at the end of it all like the child portrayed. I'm just thankful that *I* was (again, it was high school).

I very much anticipate other works from you, Mzen. Thank you for your time, everyone, who bothered reading this entire story/rant.

his parents are douches!!

A helping of truth goes a long way.

There are a lot of Newgrounds submissions that aim for drama, but ultimately fail because they "aim" for sentimentality. Although it does seem abrupt that the parents would immediately disapprove so harshly because of an incident in elementary or middle school, to the extent that the father rips up a sincere apology, it works well enough because the animation doesn't slow down too much to linger on these things and the ending is wisely ambiguous.

I know plenty of peers who didn't go into the arts because their parents never supported these endeavors. Some of the comments to this video suggest that a number of people haven't encountered lives and talents ruined by that kind of parenting and disingenuous guidance. Good for them, I suppose.

impressed of how he could fit in the paper :)

Lovely animation, relatable story.

I love this animation. It's very touching. I especially like how the characters are all one color. It also describes something similar that happened to me.

(Like MechaKingGhidra, you'll probably want to skip reading this.)
My 6th grade class was working on a quiz, having one of those lazy days. After we finished our tests, my teacher said, we could do anything as long as it was quiet. So, I got out a piece of paper, and started drawing. The material wasn't inappropriate at all, but he came over and started fussing at me. And of course, the whole class turns and looks. He made me get up, walk half the hallway to my locker, and get a BOOK of all things. The thing is, I didn't have one checked out from the library, so I had to borrow a friends. It was pretty unreasonable. And the rest of class, he would look over to make sure I was paying attention and not "doodling". Thankfully, he didn't talk to my parents. I probably would have had to smack him.

Very nice

This is a beautiful animation, a bit sappy for my taste, but if i were to have any criticism, then it would be that the art was slightly lacking. other then that you did an amazing job, and i will continue to watch your animations and hope for more of or better then this quality. good job.

Never let others force you stop what you do

The music really helped direct this specific piece. It had that nice mellow feel to it. with the animation it self, knowing it was from two years ago. this was truly an awe inspiring piece that really depicts what happens in modern families or in the past. Art being the focal part of it all, the family introduces the Art to the character, but then in the end, try to detour the character away from it.

Art is lived up to be a huge undertaking and tends to distract one from other important things. But in the end when you feel hurt, your art proves to rebound you and inspire to do more and continue on with it, because it's helping hand aids in being both an output of ones feelings and imagination.

The simplicity of this piece was just perfect because each action was perfectly animated and foretold the feeling behind the piece. Everyone who draws always imagines them self as a heroin and ends up drawing them selves as so.

All together, this piece is just simplest piece that has an all inspiring feel of when in doubt continue on with what you love to do Art or what ever else intrigues you. 5/5 and 10/10

wow really touching :')

i actually started crying during this video. it was really touching and kinda of sad during the confutation i simply loved it. it shows that even through horrible and bad times, that there is still life and creation in everthing that we do or imagine in our lives.

how did this not get first???

Rated 4.5 / 5 stars

I needed a second dose to cry

I'll have to look at this and explain this from different aspects of the animation.
The Animation itself: Yes, it's anime, but it's not "Ugu kawaii desu ne". It is a simply done art style of anime that doesn't possess over the top shininess or something of that nature.
The color itself is something similar to Gradients, which doesn't do anything to be over the top but simple enough to say "Okay, this color is the dad, this color is the mother, and this color is the child." which is all that's needed to be said.
The animation is FLUID, which is something pretty rare to see. Each movement is smooth and natural, which allows even each expression to be portrayed through not even facial expressions, but body language as well. Well done

The Story: Simple. Just simple. Yet memorable enough to get some gears in our heads turning. We all know this kid. We all WERE this kid. We were inspired to create, then become ridiculed for it. Kinda backwards, no?

The Music: It works. It's not overly sad, it's not overly happy, it's just neutral. But the images push the music forward to say "This is a sad scene, and this is a happy scene" all within the same score. It was put in the animation to give it well enough drive to not need any sound effects or voices to ruin the piece of simplicity

But yes. I give this a 9 out of 10. Why? Well, I believe that the last part was a little bit off. What happened to the boy? He put himself in his drawings to escape the world around him. In some cases, in a sense, that does happen. Some of us become even dependent on our creations or talents and sometimes bring more life to them and act as they are a physical being.
But at the same time, there are some of us who don't have that sort of crutch and still go on being emotionally abused in this sort of manner.
All we can say at the end of the day is nothing. Not because we can't, sometimes we're too afraid to. Or we aren't able to verbally say it. Or sometimes we don't know where to start.

Well, there we go 9/10, would have liked a nice preloader too, but oh well, I'll live, and so will everyone else.

I cried

usually i'm not sentimental about these things but this truly hit something. I loved this it is a simplistic but very meaning animation. I cannot have wished to see anything more loveable.

So sad yet SO AMAZING!

In a more metaphorical sense, this is kinda what some parents do to their kids creativity. Genius.

Pretty darn good, both animation and story wise, even though it was quite sad. Favourite'd. :]

Also, the dad's a douchebag. D8<

frzdragon, I actually remember watching this animation on your deviantart page about a year ago or so :D

It's a really nice animation; love the gradients, colour, and the music.
Watching it now makes me feel slightly nostalgic... :P

You have stolen this piece of artwork. Whats worse is that you won an award for someone elses piece of work. I hope you are ashamed of yourself. Azer worked hard on this piece of work, NOT you. You are a common thief.

You stole this animation...

This animation in fact belongs to frzdragon aka azer on Deviant art, it even mentions so in the credits you failure of a thief. You are not in any way frzdragon /Azer and there for should not be taking credit for her work. I hope you are aware she also has a newgrounds to which fans of hers easily seen through your ruse.
The even sadder part about this is you won an award for this stolen art work.
I hope you feel ashamed and your reputation here plummet.

A lazy ass who can't even take the time to make an animation so he posts one from another user. Fantastic f*cknuts.

Rated 0 / 5 stars

What could you gain from this. Taking the work of someone who obviously loves what they do and try to pass it off as your own. It really is disgusting, and for what? An award on the internet? Undeserved praise? Do you really feel so badly about yourself it came to theft to receive pats on the back from people you don't know? This is so sleezy. I can only hope you don't get a chance to read this because the account will be deleted.

If you check the dates it clearly states that the real original movie came out two years ago and Mzen the fake author claims to have made it in that time. However the real Deviantart page that the real Azer owns also addresses this issue. al/44076899/

To claim this as their own work I find offensive. Mzen you are a bad person. That is all.

Cool art stealing, bro.

If you had her permission to release it on NG, it would've been okay.
Impersonating and re-posting isn't okay.

Uh... Huh.

even in the credits it says frzdragon lolll
perfect animation i wish i could give credit to the real artist

Rated 0 / 5 stars

Really? Stop before it's too late.

Did you honestly think you could get away with this? Do yourself a favor and submit stuff you've actually worked on instead of claiming some one else's hard work. If you're not confident in your own stuff, that's okay, you'll get better with practice. Everyone into art goes through this, trust me.
Whether you pursue art or not, after this mess you've made, is up to you. My suggestion would be to apologize to the original artist and start anew. You're lucky this happened in the internet. You're real identity is hidden from the faces of the world wide web. If someone actually caught you in your home town some serious charges could have been pressed against you. I hope you've learned from this, you'd be very idiotic not to.

Rated 0 / 5 stars

I'm sorry

I'm sorry for my ignorance but everyone is saying that this video is stolen...I would appreciate if anyone could post a link of the real artist because I want to give credit where it is deserved. I saw the same video on deviantart but I failed to see any real evidence that it isn't the same person...could someone guide me please?

Rated 0 / 5 stars

Oh wow.

Stealing will get you no where you freaking idiot.
I hope you get banned. Kthx.
Honestly, did you think you wouldn't be caught?
By the way for anyone wondering the original is by frzdragon, she has already made a journal post about it on DA.

I just don't see why people feel the need to steal things.
It's just asinine because they ALWAYS get caught. You might as well just quit the internet.

Rated 0 / 5 stars

You are horrible for stealing someone else's hard work and claiming it as your own. The real artist worked hard on this and put her own heart and effort into it, and you just picked it up and did nothing to deserve the credit you've taken for it. You sir, are an ass.

this is stolen from a deviantart account called 'frzdragon'.

You Need Help

How dare you steal an artist's work moreover this story speaks volume while you speak of false words how demonic can you get? You should be ashamed of yourself. You really need to start to work than stealing others work you feel much better if you did it yourself even if the score is 0.1/5.0

Rated 0 / 5 stars

chary9 It's still stolen

He said he made it when he didn't that doesn't mean it's okay for him to post it without the artist's permission. This should be taken down immediately, you've been found out buddy.

Don't post and take credit for other people's work. This was made by frzdragon on DeviantART.

It takes incredible talent to make an animation of this quality.

It takes none to steal it from who really made it. Get lost, you fuck.

I wouldn't be proud about stealing something.

Sad that you won an award for stealing someone else's art. Wish i could find that whistle button so i could let Newgrounds know you're nothing but a thief, the real owner already posted a blog telling us she has her OWN account on here that she never uses.
So hope you're happy being a thief.

Well done

The emotions conveyed in this piece really hit home. I'm told the same thing by my mom about my sculpture...and my drawing. However, I see no indication on frzdragon's page that this was posted here. I'm not entirely sure you are frzdragon. If so, You'll have to prove it, unfortunately. Good luck.
