First of all: There is no pre-loader, and its 6MB in size, so give it a second to load,
It plays automatically once loaded.

This was made for my university coursework, It's entertaining but not as large as a full fledged game.

You control a UFO, abduct and blow stuff up to get more points, after a certain time you are given your score, the best scores being 120 points or higher.

Thanks for all the feedback, The game was never designed to be more than a display demo of various code snippets working together to make a game, But the fact that people are holding it to the same standards as a proper game is pretty flattering. If the coursework this year allows it I'll take all your advice to heart and make the next game worthwhile.

Hard to play

As it already was said, the movement isn´t fluid and you can´t fly diagonally. If these things would be fixed and if there were more levels without timelimit but with more enemies, then it would be nice.

bellow average

You idea is pretty good, I like that. You could develop this into a VERY fun game, trust me.

However, there are several bad things. I'll try to point them out, as well as possible solutions:

- music is always the same, gets boring really fast; make a different theme to intro, to an upgrade screen, to the mission, to the end of the mission, etc.

- controls are painful, you can't use 2 commands at the same time, which is really frustrating considering it's a space ship; make them more fluid.

- the game seems too pointless; make a plot, an intro, like a group of aliens trying to destroy all.

- the game is too static; make more levels, make possible to upgrade your space ship with shields, weapons, etc; make the humans attack you back with better and better weapons

- New scenarios, big cities, etc.

- Important: that was way too short. Make it last longer. Maybe a way inside the map to get you more time would be great, like collecting special items.

Well, I hope you can use this somehow to improve the game, because honestly, if you develop this, it could be really fun :)
Keep it up and good luck!

Controls are bad

the movement isn't fluid at all and you can't go diagonally, the objective too simple and there's not enough time. The graphics are primitive but you could just say its meant to look retro so I'll let that pass. Still good effort but you need to work more on it.

Not awful, and good for univirsity coursework

But you shouldn't just be using the KEY_DOWN listener for movement. Set a variable with KEY_DOWN then clear it with KEY_UP and use that and the movement will be much smoother.
Also, put a mute button in your next game.
