---FIX LIST---
Controls don't work- Change them in the C menu
Music is bad- Mute it in the C menu
Can't pass intro screens- Possibly change browsers
(I'll add stuff as it becomes apparent to me. :3)

Update 5 (._.) The controls can be changed by holding C to open the menu and clicking on the buttons under the big controller with the mouse. A lot of people are having issues with their keyboards not excepting inputs from a bunch of keys at once. I apologize for this, but it can be fixed by playing with the controls. If it cannot, then there isn't much I can do at this point.

My recommended control input is using A-D for movement and J-K for actions.

Sorry for the trouble. :<

Update 4 (This is getting to be a bit much, eh?): Tastertad was kind enough to inform me that Google Chrome may be giving people trouble with some of the in-between screens and the like. I'm going to recommend that anyone with trouble uses Firefox for now, as that is the browser that seems to have the most success with this particular release.

Also I keep seeing negative comments about the controls with very little description of what specifically makes them difficult to grasp. I've had no trouble from the people testing the game and I didn't particularly experience any myself, so if people could be a bit more descriptive of what doesn't quite work that would be awesome, thanks! :D

Update 3: Through some miracle this has made front page. Thank you so much Newgrounds! :D

Also to everyone having issues with the controls, please describe specifically what is wrong. I cannot solve a problem that I don't know the cause of. Past that, some of the issues may be caused by keyboards not registering too many keys held down at once. I promise I am looking into this and will fix it if I can.

Update 2: After various changes and reworking of the mute button, which now mutes the game for the duration of its current run, I believe the game is now suitable for play. I apologize for the errors from before and hope this works better.

Some suggestions:
Please use the buttom [sound off] on the options menu (HOLD C) to mute the audio if it bothers you.
Please leave some constructive criticism for me so I can improve upon future projects.

The game does have medals and a scoreboard, however none are implemented correctly yet, I may have dropped the ball to the point where they just will not work, if anyone has suggestion feel free to notify me.

I thank anyone playing this and I hope it is an enjoyable experience for you.

Update: At the sacrifice of my neat button sounds and rollovers, almost all menu content now works on Mac computers, excluding the mute button in the options menu (To my knowledge). Please let me know if there is anything still wrong with it! :D

GAEM returns to wreak havoc upon mankind yet again! Use your wits and the new tool at your disposal to destroy him and reclaim normalcy in your realm!

Simple Platforming Gameplay
Options menu for changing controls
Various Characters
Mini-game (Hopefully with scoreboard at some point)
Original Soundtrack (Which testers tell me may or may not be a good thing ._.)

Level Skip passwords are all-lowercase, while character switch passwords are all-caps
Turning the sound off may actually leave it off for the entire game
If anything needs fixed I will try to fix it. :3

I hope you enjoy this game, I have worked long and hard on it.

Um. . .uh. . .LOL

I liked it! Especally cause it seems no one else could beat half the bosses *self-hi5*
A couple were, well rather difficult, and yeah you do die about a gazillion times in one playthrough, there should be a medal for finishing the game with less than 100 deaths or something, jesus christ O_O but hey I've seen absolute crap on NG and this is definitely playable, workable material, you're getting there man! So 10/10 for pure encouragement, have a good one (and happy birthday Obama)

Chrome-Demon responds:

Congratulations on completing the game! You've succeeded at something that (apparently) hundreds upon hundreds of people have failed! :D

*Super hi-5

Also yeah sorry about the continuous death. :3

(Happy birthday Mr. President!)

Bad , Bad , Bad GAEM

I see the irony of making a simple game like this , but the second boss if imposible to beat and whats the fun of that?!
And you should make more interesting dialogues , this is a game , a very poor one

Chrome-Demon responds:

While Flaretmosphere is rather difficult, once you figure him out he shouldn't be much trouble. When he comes down for his big attack, simply jump off the side of the building and then come back around and you'll survive it.

That and I suppose I'm sorry about the dialogue, it was primarily a last minute affair.

Here's what I see as major issues preventing fun:

1- Clumsy controls: a. no crouch, so there is no chance to duck. There seem to be issues with standing on platforms sometimes.
2- Awkward movements: Stiff I'd describe it.
3- Unfinished feel to this. Even old school has health bars and full animation. And FUN.
4- The first boss is impossible to fight and the dialogue infers this as well. No hints or clue that you can beat it. Losses fun fast. All you can do is run farther than the bullet reach. *yawn*
5- Really annoying music. Just terrible. No variety heard or any option to change or mute it.
6- There is no reward for anything. No drive to achieve anything. There is nothing for the player to care about.
(badges, pickups, weapon upgrades BEFORE bosses etc.)
7- Boring environment. No backgrounds, just solid color. extreme minimalistic look. no lighting.

Overall the game as the look and feel of someone who just touched up a tutorial with minimal work. I'm not saying that's what you did. I'm just saying that is how it appears to me.

There are many basics that need to be met that all successful games have that this game doesn't have. Just compare this tot some of the classic games out there that DID do very well. Then tweak this a bit more to help draw players in, instead of frustrating them. You can keep things simple without denying the basics.

Score so far: 1/5 3/10- Ill re-score if this is updated with drastic fun changes. As I'm sure many will do too. Oh, also try to find other play-testers who aren't just family and friends and only your age range. Perhaps put it on your NG page and get everyone to play-test there, then present the final update here again.

Chrome-Demon responds:

1-2 I can't possibly help you with, so I'm sorry those were big problems for you. I can assure you that the platforms work fine, however.

3 There are plenty of classic games that had no health bars and very stiff animation, I'm sorry to argue this one but that's just fact. :/ FUN is very important though, sorry if I missed that for you.

4 The first boss is rather simple to beat, and I'll be putting up a walk-through that demonstrates such probably later today. I can understand people having trouble figuring him out, but again the games I am referring to did not have instructions for boss-bashing either.

5 Hold C down to keep the menu open, then hit the "Sound Off" button. I made this so that people could turn off the music in the event that they found it hard to listen to. I noted this in the Author Comments section above, and there is a sign for the menu in the first stage, so I tried to help people figure that one out. :3

6 There are NG Medals and level-skip/character unlock passwords if you progress through the game. If you couldn't beat the first boss then you wouldn't have witnessed any of these, but they are there.

7 I made the bulk of the game in about 3 days last Christmas. I apologize that it doesn't quite look stellar, but I was intentionally going for the minimalist style. If it is offensive to the eyes I suppose I will approach it a different way next time.

Sorry my game didn't particularly appeal to you. I hope someday one of my games will. :3

That is not a programming glitch, it is your keyboard, you can't press up, left and spacebar at once. It is because keyboard has 2 output cannels which can work at the same time and these 3 are connected to different channels, or something like that.

Ah, yeah, ganme was simple, yet interesting and entertaining, loved the ending, I give it 4/5 because it is not perfect, yet. :)

Chrome-Demon responds:

Ah thank you so much, I figured that's what it was. I will make note of this in the section above. :3

Also I'm really glad you made it to the end.

Good Overall

Im just baffled at the glitch where im not allowed to hold attack while going left and jumping yet i can go right and it works fine.

Chrome-Demon responds:

If you haven't yet, please read the review above yours as it outlines your problem completely.

You can fix this by holding C while in-game and switching the controls with the menu on the left. Click each button in that menu to change the control for the corresponding action. ;3
