You don't do it for the Glory. You definitely don't do it for the rewards. In fact I'm not sure WHY you do it. But the important thing is that you DO. You are the manservant of the greatest, most manliest hero the world has ever known. And without your help he'd be pummelled into dust! Take care of his inventory while he's out adventuring and winning the hearts of the fair maidens. Behind every great hero, there is an even greater assistant!

The art style is unique, and easy on the eyes. I really like the premise, and you managed to make inventory management an -enjoyable- experience. The hints were a handy way to let the player plan their strategy, and the trial and error gameplay didn't become tedious.

There were two speed bumps in this being a great game, however. The first is minor: It was my experience that, upon reaching the third-to-last monster, I had already maxed out the uses for gold, making the acquisition of useless items more painful and picking up the coins, gold pouches, and piggy banks ultimately useless. I'm not sure if this was a purposeful reward/punishment system to have the player focus even more on their strategy by the end of the game, but I felt less so and more a lack of planning. Never in an RPG have I said, "No, that's enough gold for the game, I'm just going to drop whatever I find hereafter up until the end game." It seems more like there should be a better distribution of the gold, or another/more use(s) for it.

The second is the most glaring issue: it also appears to be a glitch. Regardless of my loss to the last beast due to a silly error on my part, I still got the ending! It seems, therefore, that regardless of whether you win or lose, you still get to the end animation. I'm pretty sure that isn't intentional, and sort of cheapens it for me since it feels as if I don't have to work for it.

Regardless of the errors, however, this is a refreshing and interesting game, and I can't wait to see what's next.
